    Have you ever noticed that

Have you ever noticed that for the most part people who are into things like anime, videogames,WWE wrestling are the archatype for the traditional skinny geek or fat slob stigma. If you watch WWE you may have noticed that most of the crowd are total wrestling geeks(either skinny or fat)who take the stuff way too seriously and take no pride in their appearance.I must say that I find it mighty refreshing that WBB is full of people who find these things interesting but still take pride in their appearance.I mean think about generally you wouldn't picture a serious bodybuilder watching WWE or waiting for the release of the Lord of the Rings DVD.You'd more picture a bodybuilder as someone who always checks themselves out in a mirror, wears tight shirts and spends time at the bar trying to pick up women by flashing their muscles(if you follow the stereotype)I even have a clip that I d/l of a WWE fan who interupted a ladder match and he was pretty chunky(like the typical male wrestling fan)This was just something I noticed.

Way to go people, stray away from the sterotype

"I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do--this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God's law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord!"

Even better at the theaters. Yeah, that was a stark realization if I've ever heard one.

My brother is a wrestling fan and loves those movies, and he's a trucker, 6'2, about 270lbs. Hint: Those aint nuts he's saving for winter in that gut!

In fact...I'm the only one in my family who's not overweight. I'm also the only child who isnt a geekwad. I'm the only one who lifts weights. Heavy ones!
Funny though, when I was a fat, FAT little kid, I was sooo into video games, lame movies, Dungeons and Dragons, Choose your Own Adventure books, etc. I was never a real high acheiver in school, because all I ever did was stoke my creative flame. Well, that and...

yeah Ive noticed, in norway its tabu for a man to lifts weight, so most men over 40 is like that anyways, hehe.

I bought the lord of the rings DVD, but it doesnt give me the same " a land along time ago, faaar away in the ages of wizards and troll feeling" as Conan Barbarian did or Conan the Destroyer, the books is way better than the film anyways.

It was a great film. I bet if arnold was in it for 3 seconds rock would have blown his load and said how great a movie it was.

I'm sure they could have made it faster paced and just all action packed but then true tolkien fans would realize how far things strayed from the book. The books don't move that fast so why would you expect the movie to be different.

because you already read the book ;p

I for one didn't like Lord of the ring; I knew the story so what's the point in hearing it again; I would have liked to have more action and especially the scenes with tom

ELPietro I think its childish of you build up a hatred against me, I got nothing against you.

I didnt like they way they potrayed the Orcs, the uruk-hai and the small ones from the mountains, they should have been faar more like warcraft orcs, and not like goblins, because the book didnt say Goblins, it said ORCS.

It's not hatred Rock...just that what you say generally doesn't make sense and you always have to some how bring Arnold into things. I generally refrain from commenting on the majority of your posts.

I think the effects were brilliant. Nothing looked fake...it may have looked ordinary...but making something that is fantasy into something that looks real is a huge feat. The hobbits looked perfect in my opinion, the scenery was amazing, the orcs/goblins I feel looked great, the Balrog was absolutey the coolest thing. The problem is people are getting used to their 1.5 hour movie of hack and slash fantasy with basically no plot line...so many people sighed at the end because there is no big climax...but this is how the book ends. People don't appreciate the story for what it is. Seems like we just need more blood and more guts otherwise it sucks. Elves, dwarfs, orcs, hobbits, wizards, demons all done superbly and exactly how I would have imagined them, in a great setting and very realistic looking.

Maybe I'm wrong though...they should have just hired like 50 austrian bodybuilders with little or no grasp on the english language and had them swordfight for 2 hours with random grunts and one liners.

    I get the point,
I remember getting a pm because I said in one post a joke about homosexuals, while people on this board joke about me being homo and homosexuals in general, but that doesnt matter that much I guess, maybe I would be better of banned, cause I am to stupid to understand anyway.

Conan the Barbarian is much more than an austrian bodybuilder grunting and using a sword, its a movie about friendship, love, and vendetta, the visual impression is very nice, the nature, and the music is really good, but none of this is mentioned when a so called "intelligent man" is talking about this movie, they usually just use arguments as Arnold being an idiot and tabu material.

Bah, yer just whinin' cause yer a homo.

Nobody's hammerin' on ye, Rock. We all kid with each other. Ain't no thing. BUT.. How can you say that the Uruk-Hai were portrayed as goblins? Those were the perfect portrayal of a black orc. And the reason that some of the orcs in the mines looked like goblins? Because there WERE goblins there. Duh. And remember what an orc truly is. A corrupt elf. Imagine that, look at the movie. It was played damned well.

Gyno I really want to stay a member of WBB, I love this place and need this place more than ever this coming year, but being called stupid all the time kinda gets to you, and specially since most of you guys are adults and I am 17.

Well, then I just made a mistake, Ive read the norwegian version and it doesnt mention Goblins, only says smaller Orks, guess that is where my fault was, now thats cleaned up.

It's no big deal. If somebody gives you crap, give it back to them. If it gets out of hand, everyone gets warned. Your opinions are just as good as anyone else's. Don't take all the stuff personally. Everyone jokes with you because you're one of the most fun people on the board. Trust me, they make fun of your homoness as much as they make fun of my noassness.

And as far as ages go, I'd say you're right on average. There's plenty of younger ones and plenty of older ones. I'm only 20.

oh yeah well Boromir walked the streets of Gondor at night, earning a little extra to buy him a shield ! and his grandfather had something to do with this behaviour as he always gave him some money when Boromir "played" at his place when he was a child.
