    Toronto to Memphis stop-over

A buddy of mine and I are hitting the road to Memphis (to visit Graceland, don't you know). He wants to do the estimated 17-hour drive in one shot. I think that's a bad idea.

Anyway, I think we should stop at the 8 or 9 hour mark, but to sell it to him I gotta find something cool at around that point.

I haven't gotten my lazy ass over to a map, or anything, but anyone know anything cool off-hand that I could suggest. I'm not even sure what city or state we might be in, but I'm hoping someone else might have an idea. Or any websites that can help me out. Mapquest was no help, btw.

    Thanks.

Just take about 10 ECA pills before you leave, and the trip will be no problem.

Oh, FYI......if you drive like most American drivers, that trip won't take nearly 17 hours.

That's a 14 hr trip. Just do it all at once. Tennessee sucks, though. Dunno why yer headin' over here.

Half way will be on I75 somewhere in Ohio, I'd guess.

Maybe stop in columbus or cinci?

    Not really exciting.

Minnesota is definitely NOT on the way from Toronto to Memphis...

That's going to be a pretty boring drive...not much in the middle there and Memphis is questionable.

Yeah, Minnesota is not on the way.

Looks like there's nothing much to do from here to Memphis.

Graceland, people!! Graceland!!! Have you no culture??

Elvis is dead...he was a fat old man who died in the bathroom. Though being dead has certainly done a lot for his career...

Now, now, Icetuttut You don't see me insulting the Backstreet Boys and NSYNC and all those other hardcore bands you like.

In all seriousness, I like Elvis in a bit of an ironic way. I'm just going to be a part of the weird cultural phenomenon. When asked, I prefer fat, jumpsuit-wearing, karate moves-making Elvis. That was great!!

Plus, he took a lot of flack for singing "black people's" music when he started, and faced a lot of prejudice because of that, so he is a bit of a pioneer. On the other hand, was what he did cultural appropriation? Maybe. I haven't really thought it through too much. Although I buy the argument that there were much more talented black musicians who didn't get their due because of their skin color. But now, I'm digressing....

Sure, go and get all serious in a smartass discussion...tuttut I don't know if that's allowed

And I think it's as good an excuse as any for a road trip...
