are there any effects to the body when youve got a cold that would hinder progress or make it an unwise choice to train?

Yes! Don't do it! You're immune system doesn't function at 100% during and after training.

Tell me about it, I haven't trained for a week and I'm still not better yet, it keeps turning from one thing to another.

I only skip training if its a severe illness, I always have a cold or something and you're never sure if its just allergies or something.

take time off, allow for full recovery, if you don't it'll just take you longer to heal up, maybe make you sicker.

Just leave the weights alone. Trust me on this one. You'll probably just end up getting sicker. That is what happened to me at least, but then again I'm no MD.

I was under the weather the last week or so and my workouts were not the best. If you workout sick, you could get injured by not being able to give it your all (not being focused)
