    Arnold and Franco power routine

Does anyone know the powerlifting routine that Arnold did with Franco Columbo?

I mean these guys were strong. Arnold once said that he could deadlift over 800 pounds by the time he was 18. Hell Ronnie Coleman's 35 years old and can only deadlift 802 pounds.

if you can help that would be great.

Arnold, NEVER, and I mean NEVER, deadlifted 800 lbs using a full ROM, or any ROM for that matter.

arnold credited franco for getting him into deads so I doubt he was doing much at all at 18 since he didn't meet franco until much later

and btw Ronnie can get 2 with 800

    Agree with chris.

I would put money on it that Arnold definitely could not deadlift 800 lbs. I dont even think that he could in his prime. He stands at what 6'2"? Thats a huge ROM for conventional deadlifts.

I don't think Arnold did 800 either. But I do think he was doing some powerlifting before he met Franco. Weather he dl I don't know.

I saw a guy doing 4 plate shrugs on the smith machine this last workout. He was screaming at the top of his lungs, AND he was using wraps to do it. I mean geeze...smith, wraps, 4 plates, and screaming. The guy outweighed me by a good 40 lbs. probably too.. *sigh*

    4 plates a side(360lbs) or 4 plates total (180lbs)?
and there's no problem IMHO using straps for shrugs... your traps are probably stronger than your grip

I second what callahan said. I have to use straps on back day, im nursing an injury to my left hand. like cal said most people are stronger than there grip on shrugs.

I dont think Arnold has deadlifted 800lbs too, but, he has been the strongest man of europe at age 19, and has had some strong lifts, earlier in his career that is.

But what impresses me most with Arnold was his calf strength.

Il go of do a search and try to fight his lifting stats!

Franco deadlifted over 700+ at 180lbs, that is awesome no matter what anyone lifts today.

i use straps for shrugs but that is the only exercise cos i don't like a mixed grip on shrugs.

Arnold has never deadlifted 800lbs but Franco has.

but franco enetered the world strongest man competition. so 700+ pounds is very believable at the level of competition.

arnold di deadlift 560 pound stone or some thing in a strong man competition in austria.
I have no idea what the ROM was, grip postion etc. but he did lift a lot of weight, other wise he would not won the comp.

but its a far way from deading 800 pound.

He claimed to have, but it was not an "official" lift, so the veracity of the claim is in question.
