    ipod

Ive been looking at these, and they seem pretty damn cool. You can get 5gig, 10gig, and 20gig for 299 399 499 respectively. I think this is pretty expensive, but they are the best mp3 players out, i will probably wait for the price to drop some, and then buy the 5 or 10 gig. What do you guys think about these?

5 gigs is a LOT of music. I think it's a nice little player, but I think it's a bit of overkill. I think 1 gig would be more than enough.

They actually make them specifically for the PC as well, now.

I have read nothing but good things about these players, and if I were to purchase an MP3 player, it would be one of these.

i think 5 gigs is enough also, but the 10/20 gig ones come with the firewire port cover, the case, and the remote, these things themselves would cost around another 50 bucks, so that means for an extra 5 gigs of memory you only pay 50 bucks who can say no to that?

lol, i've been wanting to get an MP3 player for working out...but I'm a little confused.

    how much time does a 32MB, 64MB, and 128MB MP3 player hold?

I'm thinking the 64MB holds close to one hour of music, am I right?

What do you do with 5 gigs of music on your arm though? I have a 128mb Samsung Yepp player, and I still don't get bored of the songs... 5 gigs, that like 2000 songs or more! Those iPods are a sweet lookin machine though!

though it would be cool to use it as like a small portable hard disk I guess..

The ipod is really cool- just make sure you get to play with one before you buy one. There are a few features I kinda dont like, like not being able to set EQ yourself.

Also- very big point for me- its made out of stainless steel, so every time you glance at it wrong, it is scuffed or scratched. Forget about dropping it, man. I know you dont plan on dropping it, but swinging on vines over alligators and pits of quicksand, you're bound to let it go one of these days.

if you drop any mp3 player its gonna get messed up.
The ipod is only like 125 dollars more than a standard 128 megabite one, that is almost a no brainer for me, they also make several cool cases for them that you can buy to prevent them from getting screwed up.

triple p: 64 megs is around 1 hour or alittle more.

anyone know any good MP3 players with 64MB - also how much do those cost? I just need one for the gym, one that holds about an hour, I don't really need a small hard drive that I can carry around with that holds 2000 songs lol

Creative launched its 20 GB Nomad Zen which looks very much like iPod. Any reviews? Its 200 bucks cheaper than iPod and the fact has it that Crative MP3 players always work good (not sure how do they compare with iPod).

cool, I really need a MP3 player, I'm tired of burning cds and then taping them on tape so i can listen to them on my walkman (the walkman is much smaller then my cd player).

I'm sure it worked, I just dont like that they chose to make the Ipod out of shiny stainless steel, a very easily damagable(cosmetically) surface.

And as for the EQ settings, that pretty much why I dont buy one.

If you want to listen to music while not moving, I'd go with a CD player that plays MP3s burnt on a CD (the songs are in MP3 format, so you can fit about 8 or 9 albums on a CD). I paid something like 120 for mine a year ago. I'm sure they have probably went down in price over the last year. That is just a suggestion of mine, but I'm sure most people here want something that you can use while working out. In that case, I wouldn't reccomend anything with CD's. Mine skips a lot if I try to move with it.

i just bought a 64 meg mp3 player from my friend for 20 bucks. It is super small (30 grams) but it has no display, and it runs about 4 hours on a typical AAA battery. This is why i got it so cheap, im not sure if i wanna get an ipod, but they are very cool. I want to see how this little thing works for a few months before i consider getting something else. So far it works real well for working out, but probably wouldnt use it any other time because of the crappy battery life. My friend said he got it for 50 bucks about a year ago.
