I had my worst road test experience ever,my tester was a total butt hole.
He totally projected the impression he wasn't comfortable with me.And I was nervous to begin with and his attitude made it even worse.
1)He talked down to me and raised his voice at me like I'm a little kid.
2)He jumped the gun and made the assumption I was going to make a mistake before I made it.
3)Looked at me like I didn't know what I was doing. He pretty much asked me "You do know what you're doing right?"
4)Had the nerve to assume that I can't drive because I'm blind in 1 eye.
5)He unnecessarily put his hands on the wheel, assuming I made a error before I even had a chance to react.
And I'm a good driver,I worked hard to improve my skills despite my 50% visual impairement. There was one mistake I made that was totally uncharacteristic, paraell parking was one of my strong suits and I screwed that up.
The good thing my score improved a lot and the mistake I made last time I didn't this time, which is a plus.If my tester didn't make me so god damn nervous I wouldn't have made the mistakes I did.
I don't know about the rest of you but for some reason stress, pressure & nervousness sometimes cause my mind body connection to slightly disconnect. And I end up making mistakes or forgetting things I normally wouldn't.In fact since I've been practicing my driving(August-late October mid December)I've been told that my skills have improved greatly.
I won't let 1 bad road tester deter me though,I'll practice some more over the holidays and take the test again at the end of January 2003![]()
Good Luck Next Time! That sucks that your tester talked down to you. When i took the test, my tester made me extremly nervous but in a professional sorta fun kind of way.

Don't feel so bad. They go out of their way to make you fail the first time. I failed my first time. The guy I had was a j@ck@$$. He kept on "tsking" after everything I did, regardless of if it was right or wrong. Don't ever go to the DMV in Corydon, they'll fail you 99 times out of 100. They're notorious for that.

And my score was good enough to pass tooI just have this reaction to test.No matter how well I know the stuff for some reason now I get super nervous and make mistakes.
It's the same thing while studying for my qualifier exam for my level 1 life insurance license. My trainer was helping me review today and I'm getting the answers but on the exam I partially blank out.Something about pressure just messes me up too much pressure just makes me forget or make mistakes, but I'll overcome this and become a stronger person for it.
Just right now I don't even want to think about driving a car for at least a week.I need to give myself time to recover mentally first
Oh yeah I forgot you were a Winnipegger, anyway this was my second time not my first.Does the DMV in Corydon really have that rep???.Then maybe I'll have to change thatOriginally posted by maverick

EXACT EXACT SAME THING HAPPENED TO ME! The first time i was so nervious and the lady was so mean, that i messed up right away. SHe didnt even give me teh chance to mess up. The second time i failed because another driver ran a stop light, and almost hit me.
Your still 1 step better than me man, so pass it next time. You can do it!
The first time I took a road test, I failed before I left the parking lot because a truck was flying into of the parking lot and cut me off, so I hit the brakes to avoid hitting it. The tester told me to turn right around and park, and failed me for 'performing a dangerous maneuver'
My sister failed because she stopped too far behind another car at a stoplight.
The second time I passed with a 95, five points marked off because I saw a sign that said 'dip', and slowed down, then we hit a little dip, an I sped up thinking we cleared the dip.
KACLUNK!
I was wrong. Still passed.
BTW all those in Northern CA, take your test in Davis, CA. College town, totally empty during the day. No super busy streets in normal testing hours, nice neighborhoods, nice wide streets.
And I'm just so dejected right now,I was looking over my marks sheet and overall I don't have a lot of demerits it's just the automatics that do me in.And the automatics are just some stupid common sense mistakes that when I'm thinking I won't make those mistakes.Maybe 2003 will be my year for passing my road test.
