I just wanted to take this time to personally thank the good people that post on this board for the knowledge I have gained over the last few months. I have successfully completed my first bulk/cut, and put on 15 pounds of muscle. I just completed my first photoshoot since my bulk, and I would like to share the results. I feel as if I have total control over my growth, thanks to the proper training methods and nutrition knowledge I have gained from this site. I am about to bulk again, and I now feel the sky is the limit. Thanks WBB!

Looking good! Keep it up and its untelling where you'll end up. Good luck with the bulk.

Pain is inevitable. Suffering is optional.
Way to go! That's definitely a body to be proud of.
Good job man- What sort of diet and routine did you use? What do your lifts look like? How much did you weigh before you started? Come on man- your leaving out all the juicy info that people like to hear.
Your body type looks similar to mine, buildwise- Except when I had that low of BF % I didn't have that much muscle.(still don't btw)
awesome job dude.
"It is often said, mainly by the "no-contests", that although there is no positive evidence for the existence of God, nor is there evidence against his existence. So it is best to keep an open mind and be agnostic. At first sight that seems an unassailable position, at least in the weak sense of Pascal's wager. But on second thought it seems a cop-out, because the same could be said of Father Christmas and tooth fairies. There may be fairies at the bottom of the garden. There is no evidence for it, but you can't prove that there aren't any, so shouldn't we be agnostic with respect to fairies?"

"Out of all of the sects in the world, we notice an uncanny coincidence: the overwhelming majority just happen to choose the one that their parents belong to. Not the sect that has the best evidence in its favour, the best miracles, the best moral code, the best cathedral, the best stained glass, the best music: when it comes to choosing from the smorgasbord of available religions, their potential virtues seem to count for nothing, compared to the matter of heredity. This is an unmistakable fact; nobody could seriously deny it. Yet people with full knowledge of the arbitrary nature of this heredity, somehow manage to go on believing in their religion, often with such fanaticism that they are prepared to murder people who follow a different one."

Would also like to say how much this board has helped me. Don't post very much, but read it religiously. It has completely changed the way I train and think, for the better.
Thanks for all the helpful posts, guys.
Thanks for the positive replys guys. Diet has always been my achillies heel, and I have only really begun to adjust it for proper muscle building since joining the board in August.
As far as my diet specifically, I consume high protein throughout the day, generally eating 4-5 times a day. I usually consume my largest meal (lunch) when I first wake, which consist of usually salmon and simple carbs, such as apples. Next eating a cup or cup and 1/2 of oatmeal 30 minutes before my workout. I try to consume only protein post workout, taking a protein shake (glutamine, whey) directly after my workout, then waiting 1-2 hours and consuming an animal protein, which is usually salmon. I then generally take a protein shake of the same mixture before bed. I try to stay away from complex and refined carbs all together as a rule, and I have noticed how much more efficient my metabolism has become as a result. This is my formula for growth, and can be manipulated for more or less based upon cutting and bulking needs.
My supps include ZMA, no2, and glutamine, nothing out of the ordinary, but essential for my purposes. I am a big believer that each individual must find the food substances and supps that work best with their individual phisiology to grow efficiently, and this is a constant procces of discovery. Thank you for all the positive comments, and feel free to continue to critique my images. I will post my training routine as well if anyone is interested.
No carbs after workout?
Any particular reason? Seems a bit counter-productive to me.

I just find for my purposes, it ensures minimal fat gain in eating post workout. It has worked well for me, but as I stated above, to each his own.
For most individuals, carbohydrate intake, particularly following an intense training session, does not result in fat gain, and is in fact essential to muscle recovery. Should choose not to replenish muscle glycogen, it is likely, if I recall correctly, that much of the protein you eat post-workout will undergo gluconeogenesis; and thus your avoidance of carbs is inherently counter-intuitive.

whats is no2? Nitrous oxide?
Just kidding, but I am curious.
But again, as stated above, each individual must discover what works best for their individual phisiology. I am not opposed to simple carbs immediatly post workout, and this is a factor which I actually manipulate when cutting or bulking. But I maintain that the majority of carbohydrate intake should remain preworkout, and while the majority of post workout or (growth) calories, should consist of protein.Originally posted by _-_v_-_

I respect your individual methodology -- far be it from me to claim that I know better than you how your body works -- and you certainly seem more than capable of an intelligent justification of said methodology. It is exactly for this reason that I am curious to see what your reasoning is in avoiding carbohydrates post-workout. Do you base this decision simply on how your body responds, or do you instead adduce more specific scientific principles? If so, what might they be? Again, I'm not being critical; I am merely curious.

More likely than not, since the muscles are needing to replentish the glycogen lost the protien is not sythesised and is turned into glucose. Rather inefficent, but it accomplishes the same results- namely replentishing the glycogen of the muscles and liver.
The results would be the same if instead of eating 50g of protein post workout and eating 25g of carbs and 25gs of protein. The body takes what it needs of glucose before protein is sythesised. (if I remember correctly)
I have found both that my body reacts better to digestion in this manner, as well as the fact that I wish to maintain a constant bodyfat ratio. When bulking, I will include a simple carb, such as a banana in my protein shake, post workout, yet I try to keep it as low carb as possible. I find this optimises my metabolism, as well as accomplishing in allowing me to intake the neccesary amount of protein to grow, in a period where growth is occuring, as opposed to preworkout when carbs are more neccesary in providing energy to train. This seems common sense to me, and granted I am no bodybuilder nor nutrition expert, but as I said, it works for me.
Good work man, savage body, exactly what i want!

Allow me to thank you for the positive words. To answer your question, My current bodyfat, as of 1/10, is 8%. I am 5'9 155lbs, and Ive bulked from 140 in the last few months. My goal is to gain 5-10 more pounds of muscle, while maintaining a low bodyfat. I feel I am a testament to the effectiveness of this site, for if I can do it, anyone can. Best of luck to you man, and if you need anymore info, please feel free to ask.
Here is another image from the same shoot for anyone that is interested.
furious - genetically do you tend to be a fat guy or a skinny guy?

Im 7-8% BF at 125lb, but what i do have is pretty well cut.
What kind of diet/training schedule did you have?
Id like to be at 140lb with 8% BF by around Mid May, do you think thats possible?
A body like that take s alot of work, well done.
Hey,
To answer some of your questions, I have been both fat and skinny. I am something of a mesomorph, as I have fluctuated from 180 to 130 at 5'8. I tend to gain and lose weight easily, so I found the bulking/cutting proccess to be ideal for my purposes. As far as my training goes, I give the following muscle groups their own training day: chest/ arms (biceps and triceps), and shoulders and back). I will throw in a leg day once a week or so, but generally I just do 20-30 minutes of light running or walking on an incline after my workout. Now, regarding your training and individual goals, I gained 15 pounds of what I consider muscle in 3-4 months, so I believe anything is possible. You just have to train big, and eat big as it is said here. Discipline is the key to anything in life, and reflects in your workouts. I am a strong believer in cardio, and I feel while it must be kept at lower levels while on a bulk, it helps immensely in keeping fat levels down, and actually aiding in building muscle. Goodluck with everything bro, and if you would like more info on my workouts or diet, feel free to pm me or email.
nice job!

Sorry I just glanced through some stuff and wanted to comment on the carb question. Taking carbs post workout can halt lypolysis, so depending on your goals and can be good or bad to consume carbs postworkout.
