Big Scandel @ School? no way!

RANT:

there has been so many dumb things happening within my school district in the past year
the new school wasnt done.. so we had to have split sessions.
i went to school from 1230 to 5 or something
i dont even want to think about that.. thats why i dont remember it.
the gym wasnt done.. so we had to walk outside..
and when the weather was really bad we sat in a hallway and couldnt do other work
how GREAT!
THEN.. there was a big issue with water bottles.. it wasnt even big. but a few parents apparently thought it was
so last week they banned all food and drink from the classrooms
ALL of it
no water. no nothing. all because of a few water bottles laying around the school.

i find out.. they are trying to get rid of all of the extra credit within our schools. who is? ONE DAMNED PARENT WITH A LAWYER!
why the hell do they care?
they dont need extra credit!
they claim that people can buy extra credit
it has always been in our school.. where if you go to the play, some english teachers may give extra credit out.
they dont HAVE to. but they can
going to the play costs money.. because the play COSTS money
they need money for props and scenery and such
so yea..
the parent CLAIMS we are making kids go to get points
its the kids choice! why does it matter?

but the real issue is.. why cant the school just take care of that one issue?
why do they have to ban extra credit that has NOTHING to do with money?
i hate how my school is run by the parents who arent even here
why should one parent change our whole school?

mrs MH is one the best english teachers in our school. he is ripping her out. its pathetic that this guy has nothing better to do. he cant even give credit for all of the hours and hours put towards the play. plus she has honors classes she teaches.

i graduate in a few months
and all of this crap just keeps coming and coming
it is bad enough i cant even graduate with half our friends because they split us up during our senior year....
i am finally over that. and now little incidents such as water in the classroom... or 5 points on your 1000 point english grade are taking over my school!

edit: travis is a great actor. i respect him greatly.. it sucks that the people in the theather group will be affected.. all because of the money issue. and because of the stupid parent.

Kimpy, the students should organize and voice support and if need be each and everyone call the schools super and also the media to voice your opinions. I would suggest to call the family that is suing, but they may try and sue you all, too......hang in there......but stupidity is everywhere.....

i see your point of view kimmy, but i also see the other side too. Ie, if i had been missing some points in english in order to graduate, of course i would have gone to that play 50times in order to get enough points. I think thats what the parents of that guy tries to prevent from happening, so that some looser kids dont do that.

Extra credit is extra lame. It's extra support for the extra kids who aren't extra good enough to extra do what their supposed to do extra.

i can see the issue of the money thing
but why every extra credit thing?
we have review games in my microbiology class for our tests..
it encourages us to know the knowledge BEFORE the test.
the winner gets 2 or 3 points
it matters in THAT class.. because we only have about 300-400 points in a marking period.
and i dont think extra credit is extra lame.
sometimes a kid slips on their grade. i do sometimes. i make stupid mistakes sometimes. if i can fix that by getting a harder math problem on a test right.. how is that lame?
IF you put extra effort into something, you should get a few points.
it CAN change your grade.
im not saying grades are THAT important- but to parents they usually. and to COLLEGES. they definitely are

man, the extra points and the grade system in the Us is extra complicated.



why not have like its here? 1-6, where 6 is the best grade and you need 2 to pass. Simple.

Heh, I know water bottles were banned in my high school because a few kids had been bringing in bottles full of hard liquor and drinking them in class.

High school is bull**** for the most part. In college it's not nearly as bad, but it's still there, albeit at a much more tolerable level. I'm suprised it took you this long to figure it out

I'd guess the parents either flunked out of highschool themselves, or just really really have nothing better to do... I mean, come on.. Go see a play, its not liek the teacher was asking for $1000 for a pass, its $6 to go see a play! Thats like what, one pack less cigarettes for one day, do it up!
