The Dark Tower 5, Wolves of the Calla, will be out Nov 4. The next two are scheluded out in the next year, though paperback won't be until 2006. I am excited. The prologue is on the website. The preist from Salems lot is in the book.
I just reread the first 4. The first one came out in 1982 so its been along time coming.

Its about time. The Gunslinger Series is one of the best ever. I have read the first 3. I have the 4th book, but it is too boring for me. I don't really care about Roland's past. I can't wait for the 5th one..
Berserker you have a norwegian nickname,![]()
A big thanks to all my friends in the USA, I am deeply grateful for your hospitality and kindness.
The 4th is slow. It took me a long time to read it the first time. When I read it the second time after rereading the first 3 it was more interesting. There some good parts which really define his character, especially at the end. its the start of quest for the Dark Tower.
I think the second is my favorite, Drawing of the Three.
It was orginally going to northernberseker but that was to long. Then I found berserker wasn't used.
I think the 3rd was my favorite, though there's not one I really didn't like. I havent read any of em in a few years I might just have to read em again.
It was fun to read all 4 in a row. Everything is fresh in your mind and you can see how it all goes together.
I just finished From a Buick 8 this afternoon. Good book, moves quickly. Your into after about 10-15 pages then no slow parts. Wasn't a real long, 351 hardcover.
Sounds sweet (Dark Tower).
You kill me in a dream, you better wake up and apologize....
Its about time! The Wastelands and the Drawing of the Three are the best ones. I just hope it's worth the wait
Long wait? You weren't even alive when the first one came out.![]()
Those have to be my favorite Stephen King books. Its about freaking time.
In his last short story collection, Everything's Eventual, I think, he had a short story pertaining to the Gunslinger right before the first Dark Tower book. Pretty good read.

I read on the website its something about vampires.
i'm actually in the midst of Wizard and the Glass (i know again - i still ahven't gottne but half-way through and i've tried 3 times) now.
i don't know what it is about that book - it's not bad...but somehow i always get about as far as roland and susan delgado meeting, and then like..forget to read the rest of the book everytime.

The first time I read it did the same, little further. The section seems kind of boring. Funny thing when I read it the second time I was gonna skip the past stuff. But when I started reading it I got into. It really does give you insight into Rolands character. The presant time par to the book is a little boring too.
I think I am gonna preorder the 5th book I want it in hardcover. The rest I have are 2nd printing in oversized paper back.
there were allusions in The Stand as well.Originally posted by HomeYield

berserker - i'm gonna try this time to read allt he way through. i mean i find the whole culture of that time really fascinating.
hey budes - if you catch this - the dark tower series is a good take on steampunk if you haven't read it.

It is. Pretty good read, and his short stories are always my favorites. Probably one of the better stories in that collection.Originally posted by Berserker

He's had allusions to the Tower in quite a few of his books too. Insomnia was one of them. He's got themes that tend to stick around in many of his books. The red rose I think is one of them too.

I think the first book he wrote with Peter Straub, The Talisman ? had some of the same themes. Pretty cool I think.
I'll have to go back and read the series again. I think I could probably understand some of the symbolism and philosophical ideas a little bit better now.

tells you what books are linked.
I didn't see the connection to the men in yellow coats when reading hearts in atlantis
I didn't know there was a connection in eyes of the dragon or tailsman either. But its been awhile since I read them
Black house is a sequel to Tailsman. Takes place in Wisconsin! He most be trying to gain more readers. Buick 8 is in Penn. Either that or he was giving Maine a bad name and the tourism council asked him to move.
I liked the first one the best. I, too, am about halfway through the 4th. I haven't been able to find the time to read in so long that it is hard to keep up.
I'm going to have to finish the 4th now, because the 5th is on the horizon. I've been waiting a while for that.
Read off the site the Eyes of dragon has King Roland and Flagg in it. So that implies they both live. Though "there are other worlds than these"
just finished wizard and glass. once i got into it i didn't want it to end. i want them to make a movie of roland's young days. how badass was that scene where they took out Jonas and his Posse??

What I though really showed you his obsession was how he was going to abandon Susan. He was madly in love, to the point it drove a rift between his friends. Then he wants to leave her for the tower.
WTF was with the Wizard of Oz cross over? Stephen King admits to doing lots of drug ans writing while under the influence, you got to wonder about some stuff. Then again it is showing how people from our world have gone through doors too.
