What GhettoSmurf said. I've heard of people using zinc lozenges, especially with a throat infection (pharyngitis). Some people swear by echinacea- not sure if it's used to prevent getting sick or if it is supposed to have some effect once you are actually sick.

Dad used to always say it took 14 days to get over the flu if you went to the doctor, about two weeks if you didn't.

I think that echinacea has to be supplemented for a while (months) before, in order to have ny positive effects, mostly preventive...so taking it when you feel sick won't do very much.

I take zinc lozenges when I feel sick. I have foud the last few times that I am sick for a shorter amount of time. Sometimes, I fell like I'm just about to get a cold or something, I pop a couple lozenges and vit C, and I don't get sick..

vit c doesn't do much once the cold has set in ... you need to consistently take it BEFOREHAND. hot liquids help with sore throats as it kills the critters sitting in your lymph nodes. other than that - sleep.

You overtrain without knowing it and bang your ill. I do this naturaly anyway

+ calcium caps. liquid ones are best (these are good for preventing acidy in the body, thereby keep disease, virus at bay)

also echenecia taken daily 3-6 times daily when starting to feel ill. there normaly found in 500mg caps

and zinc 50mg throughout the day, this boosts imune system & can prevent estrogen aromtasing (which is always a good thing)
