    massage therapist as a career

ANyone have any knowledge about the demand and the pay for a massage therapist?

I found two vocational schools who offer classes(150 hours) for aprox.$1900 and I was wondering if the investment is worthwhile.

    Thanks for any serious input.

Honestly, man, if you're going to make that investment, I'd just go look around at massage parlors in the area. It's hard to actually set your own price, people can just shop around. So check out the competition and crunch some numbers... that's not a small sum to shell out.

Just my advice. I know they can do very well.. hell, I did it without formal training at a gym a few years back (as an apprentice) and made damn good money.

In my area certified massage therapists charge 35-50 dollars per hour in private practice.

Make sure to ask yourself if you honestly want to rub the fat of some 40 year old man.

If you can handle that, it seems like it would be a good career considering the flexibility you'd have in being able to work for yourself. I imagine the hard part, as with any consultant/contracting job, is to get the ball rolling by attracting an initial client base. Word of mouth is crutial so treat any patrons like gods so they'll reccomend you.

its better to do it part time as supplemental income.....and you can give your card to some strippers....that makes up for the 40 year old fat guy.
