    opinion from the metal lovers

have any of you heard Superjoint Ritual yet?? it's Phil Anselmo's new band. nice to hear him screaming on a record again, but the overall music is a bit to be desired. worth buying on sale in my opinion(even though i didnt buy it, i dl'd it)

I have both Superjoint Rituals albums and both are really good albums. If you like Superjoint Ritual, you should check out both of the Down albums with Phil if you haven't already.

I've heard a few tracks, alot rawer then pantera was, but kinda stuck to the same grooves. I can't speak for Down unfortunately. I'll agree with your rating too. Much more appealing to most tastes then some of the other stuff he's been doing. Viking Crown comes to mind..

The new Superjoint Ritual is in the GrooveMobile. After listening thru twice, I'm pleased. A good dose of aggresiveness and anger.

    I'll give it a B.

    (I bought it on sale)

I liked Down II better, but I think that's because it was a little more varied and less like anything else.

I also bought the new Type O Negative - Life is killing me. If you like Type O Negative, you'll love this album.

If you don't like them, you won't get it at all.

    Grade: A

Heard a couple more tracks off the Metallica album. I was hoping St Anger was the worst track on the album. It is not.

Heh Yeah new Metallica album was bad:/ Sounded like Lars was using 2 garbage cans and a drum he stole from a tribesman, Those drums killed the whole album. Also the music seemed somewhat random and they changed the format big-time. But hey, I'm sure thats why its in the bargain-bin for $10.

Funny that they would Release nothing short of awesome albums, Complain about Napster, and then release a POS album like this where all the songs sucked. DL away. :/

that's mainly just a bunch of nu metal bands that are slightly influenced by death metal, excluding a few.
    moshing is idiotic.

Superjoint Ritual is alright, for Hardcore. Hey if you like Pantera check out Exhorder. They sound just like Pantera, only they was doing the sound in the 1980's when Pantera was Glamtera, AKA Whitesnake v. 2.0

I wasn't aware that system of a down was hardcore, but whatever. As for moshing being idiotic, it's fun to beat the piss out of someone while your having a good time at a concert. All in fun for someone who's very aggressive, not OLD and boring.

*I assosciate having a good time at a concert with listening to the music, not getting pointlessly violent.

*Do you equate youth with anger? I'm 17. Furthermore I haven't been to a show where there was much real moshing as opposed to hardcore dancing, both appaul me equally.

i personally think moshing is great. hardcore dancing or whatever its called is downright annoying, and i usually have to physically tell someone to not do it around me.

honestly....its a metal show, i realize with most new metal fans(new meaning ages 20 and under), they dont really know what a good classic metal show is all about. but ill be damned if im going to go pay money to see slayer or testament or 4000 other awesome bands to what, sit there and sip some ****ing coffee?!?!?! i dont think so! i wanna see lights, smoke, pyro, idiots jumping off the stage and landing on their heads and still staying to see the show because its the ATTITUDE that brought them there in the first place, i wanna see people smacking into eachother and getting ****ed up and drunk and high and bleeding.

for gods sake why do YOU even like metal if you think every other fan is an idiot

Whoah, looks like I struck a nerve there Webb, I just prefer to keep all my self destructive behaviour in the gym.
I like metal because I like music, and metal is what i started on, I like the way the genre has twisted and mutated and is always doing something new. At a concert, I'm always in the front, leaning on the stage, maybe banging my head, maybe not. However I totally agree with you about the old metal ways being different then most of what we'll see now. My opinion might change if I saw a giant circle pit with the entire floor moving as opposed to people doing karate moves. But honestly that **** just distracts from the music. Music was meant for the ears.
