My roommate and I are starting new routine for weight lifting and diet.
He is hyperglycemic. Well he says he is. Anyway hes 5'4" 120 lbs. He thinks he can eat fatty foods like frozen pizza and brownies because he is hyperglycemic. I've just told him just wait 4 months and see how hes progressed compared to me.
I'm on a pretty strict diet, I havn't been cheating. Eating only healthy meals.
Anyone have any advice for him?
Also I don't think he really understands what hyperglycemia is because he tells me it doesn't matter how much sugar he consumes. From the little research I've done hyperglycemia means there is already too much sugar in the blood.
I'm going to point him to this thread, because he thinks he can still eat all this fatty unhealthy food and still make gains like I will.
Thanks Guys.
Hyperglycemia is generally associated with those whom have diabetes. It's basically high blood sugar, usually as a result of too little insulin, or the body's improper use of it. Basically, if he were "hyperglycemic" as he says, he'd probably be dead. There's a good chance he'd experience ketoacidosis (diabetic coma.)

In Memphis, it is illegal for a woman to drive by herself, unless a man is walking or running infront of the vehicle, waving a red flag in order to warn approaching pedestrians and motorists.
Oh yeah, and the conclusion: ..I don't think your friend knows what he's talking about. Because if he were already hyperglycemic it would be a result of already eating too much ****ty sugary food, therefore he'd be on his way to a coma if not treated.

B.C.C. is right. A hyper glycemic person who eats a diet high in sugar (or any type of carbs for that matter) will hasten the onset of diabetes if they do not already have it. If the hyperglycemia is left unchecked this person is heading for serious life threatening medical problems.
A hypo glycemic person has low blood sugar and can usually control this through diet. However, this person should also avoid sugary foods as they will cause more severe blood sugar spikes and crashes than in people with out hypoglycemia.
I think your buddy should talk to a doctor and figure out what condition he has and what he needs to do to control it. He obviously is confused about his condition.
