what are the main differnces between a power clean, a clean, and a hang clean?
Cleans and power cleans both start with the bar on the floor, where the first pull is like an explosive deadlift. The lifter accelerates the bar off the floor, pulls it up with a shrugging motion, and then drops under the bar while it's still suspended in the air, to "catch" it in a clean grip at collarbone level.
A clean refers to the Olympic style clean, where the lifter drops down almost butt to floor to "catch" the weight and then front squats it back up.

A power clean is much like clean, except that they lifter drops only far enough down to get under the bar, usually not quite to parallel.
A hang clean starts with the bar held just above the knees, in a semi-squat position, which eliminates the first pull.

I could give all to Time except - except
What I myself have held. But why declare
The things forbidden that while the Customs slept
I have crossed to Safety with? For I am There,
And what I would not part with I have kept.
