I LOVE boxing and am a huge fan, I have tapes, I watch all the fights, and I tryed it once when I 16 but I couldn't hack it cause I was smoking too much.
I'm 24 now, almost 25 and am considering taking up boxing sometime next year, maybe in January as a new years resolution type thing. I know where there is a gym that I could go too, it's actually a good gym that has produced a few world champions. I saw this guy on HBO once that started boxing at 25 or 27 I think it was, so wondering is it too late for me to give it a shot?
BTW this guy who was on HBO was already in top shape when he started. He played high school and college football and I imagine he worked out frequently before taking up boxing.
I dunno it just feels like I'd be missing out if I didn't at least try, I really love the sport.
I know that the early 30's is when the lighter weight guys start to fade, and that heavyweights go into their 40's sometimes. But is it too late to start?

From the context of your message, I see no reason to seek validation from strangers. If you love boxing and want to do it, just do it. I doubt you'll be a world champion, but if you love it so much, you'll do it for fun.Originally posted by Dedicated

unless you're one of those poor, neurotic souls that won't do anything unless they can be the BEST at it
I mean, I like football a LOT. If I'd liked it this much when I was 14, I'd have gone out for the football team in highschool. It's far too late for that now, but I still get out there and play most weekends because I enjoy the hell out of it.
i started fighting at 26 and had only lifted weights for 6 months before that with no road work at all

Dontate to my favorite charity!
Lots of guys take up boxing successfully at your age. The odds are against you becoming an elite boxer, but if you enjoy it you can still take up the sport and do pretty well if you train properly and have the heart.
