My girlfriend is going to start working out (no free weights yet), but she is looking for a good forum or place where she can read about food and nutrition (sp?) so that she knows what to eat.
btw, i used to know alot about this stuff, but ive been working 2 jobs and going to school so i havent had time to workout or anything. but im getting back into it in the next month.
thanx for the help
The diet forum here has just enough info for girls as it does for guys.
My brother and I were brutal. I once chased him around the house with a spoon that I put on the burner. I burned that little pricks leg. -sharkall2003
Then I saw a little african boy sleeping, and I thought...that is little Okeke. he is tired from herding all the goats and the big goat got away today - Rock
They need their own forum and nutrition guide?

oh well, ill just tell her to come here
Yes, here is the place. There's no reason why she should train or diet any differently from a man.

In Memphis, it is illegal for a woman to drive by herself, unless a man is walking or running infront of the vehicle, waving a red flag in order to warn approaching pedestrians and motorists.
well, i dont think she is going to be using free weights at first. After she starts working out for awile (and i get back into the swing of things), i will introduce her to free weights. Thats why I was asking about a womens forum, because they normally talk about other stuff, or whatever females normally talk about when it comes to their bodies
it doesn't REALLY matter if you're using freeweights or machines, especially to start. The important thing is to get your muscles into the habit of being trained.
There are some pretty knowledgeable women (Tryska, Icergrrl, etc.) here that can answer any gender-specific questions she has
what cal said - i know i'd be happy to help.

she should also visit www.stumptuous.com and look at the iron section.
Squats work better than supplements.
"You know, if I thought like that, I'd never put more than one plate on the bar for anything, I'd never use bands or chains, I'd never squat to parallel or below, and I'd never let out the slightest grunt when I lift. At some point in your lifting career (assuming you're planning on getting reasonably strong and big), you're going to have to accept that most people think you are some kind of freak." -Sensei

lots of the same info, but also issues that only pertain or are more common to women (PMS and cravings, depression, binging, getting better hips and butt, etc). depends on her personality/comfort level - but sometimes easier for females to participate more where it's all women.
i prefer wbb tho, less superfluous.
