    Geoff's NHE

Past year has thrown me a lot of curves: new baby, self-remodeled house, long work hours.

Needless to say, the only things I've been gaining are fat and bad workout/eating habits.

So, with a new start to looking good and feeling trim and big, I'm embarking on NHE as of today. Probably 2 to 3 months of the cutting version, then onto the building version once I'm happy with my BF levels.

I experimented with the <20 carb first days starting this last weekend, but I think I failed yesterday in a couple areas. This is ok because today will be the official start of the 7 days.

Carb ups will be Sundays and Wednesdays.

Workouts will be M-W-F. I used to do a 4 day routine, so will need to tailor my schedule to be 3. Probably just with the WBB routine 1 (which I have yet to try).

    Monday

    5:30
    4 whole eggs w/ half tablespoon oil - 3c - 24p
    multivitamin
Vivarin (working out the Starbuck's craving slowly)

    9:00
    4 slices turkey meat - 2c - 20p

    11:00
    Protein shake 1c - 42p

    1:00
    8 slices turkey meat - 4c - 20p

    3:30
    2 1/2 oz roast beef slices and 4 slices cheddar w/mustard - 3.5c - 55p

    7:00
    Chicken breast w/ 1 slice cheddar, mustard, and broccoli - 2c - 40p

    Total
    15.5c - 201p

Wow, staying under 20carbs per day this first week is really tough. That cheddar cheese really helped to fill me up between meals though.

Felt the real lack of energy about mid day. I'm unsure when I'll make the keto jump because Sat and Sun I went over the 20 limit without realizing it. Not to far, but probably into the 30-40 range on Sunday. Like I said earlier, I'll just count this Monday as being the 'first' day of the seven day transition period.

eh, dont wanna get sick. I always start to take vitamin C when I feel it coming on, that always helps-if your not already taking a daily supp of it.

good luck on the NHE...metabolic shift is a pain in the ass, but by 4th day its a breeze...just keep a watch on the fat content in the carb loads...its easy to get over 20g if you don't pay close attention to food labels.
May you be in heaven an hour before the devil knows you're dead.

I'm unsure about the metabolic shift. I mean, as I said above, I did a sub-par job of depleting carbs this last weekend, but the last 3 days I've been way low. BUT, my only real loss of energy was Monday. I wonder if the ok weekend and tight carb Monday put me through then. I've read on another site that it only takes about 2 days to make the shift if you are at <20 carbs.

This is either day 5 or 3, if you count the weekend, but I feel fine besides having a head cold. Almost suspiciously well, perhaps I was expecting worse (granted Monday I was pretty worthless, mind and body, for a few hours).
