I've played it some. It is pretty good so far, but I don't like the Vagrant Story-Style battle system. I also don't like how enemies will chase you until you leave the map. I'll be fighting an enemy when another will walk up and double-team me. I'll be dead then since I can't outrun them.

I can't stand the idea of paying monthly for a video game. It's unfortunate that every RPG being made now is an MMORPG.

I personally think they ruined the whole FF series by making it online.

Blah, I'm not fond of MMORPG's at all. I'll wait until the next one comes out as a stand-alone.

It's just a scam to weasel more money out of people's pockets. The last decent FF was IX. It was a good one. VIII sucked, but we all know the masterpiece that was VII. Everyone before it was awesome, also.

I have a special place in my heart for the first one. I remember sittin' back in '88 playing ten hours on end raising levels... The good old days.

Final Fantasy X-2 is coming out soon so there aren't any worries.

Now if they only could make a direct sequel to 7. Man I wish that would happen.

They are, pretty sure it will be for PS2 also.

    Edit****

    This is what I found...

Hot on the heels of the formal announcement of Final Fantasy X-2, Japanese site Quiter is reporting that series' producer Yoshinori Kitase mentioned a possible sequel to the series' most popular installment, Final Fantasy VII, in the upcoming issue of Japan's number one game magazine, Famitsu.

According to Quiter, in an interview in the mag, Kitase says that he would like to make a continuation to FFVII -- and lots of other people do, too, including character designer Tetsuya Nomura (who recently debuted as a director in his own right with Square's immensely popular Kingdom Hearts.) Kitase goes on to say that since there are so many ardent fans of the game, they don't want to make a bad game. Consequently, concrete plans and a schedule for the game have not been decided upon.

It sounds a bit far-fetched, but so did FFX-2 until it happened. We'll see what develops in the future.

My friend told me about the game originally, he says they are making it though, so dunno what the deal is.

I like FFXI But yeah, I think that single-player RPGs are better.

Is it out for PS2 yet or just PC? I was shopping yesterday (no plans on picking it up yet) and saw it for the PC, but I didn't see it in the PS2 section. If it's not out for PS2 does anybody know when it will be out? Also, what additional HW if any will I need for my PS2 to be able to play it online; I've never played an online game for PS2 yet.

Get it for the PC. I'm sure the PC version will be better anyway. I believe that the PS2 version is coming out past New Years. If you still want to use the PS2, you have to get the network adapter add on thing for it. On top of that, I'm not sure how they are going to do data saving on the PS2. On the PC, your progress is saved up to the second. If your game crashes, you can just pick up where you left off. The only bad thing about this is if you screw things up and wish you could go back to a previous save.
