Dextrose in post workout shake question

I put about 40 grams of dextrose in my post workout shake and it makes the shake so sweet i almost cant drink it. Whatta you guys suggest i do? Add more water and make the shake into 2 cups worth? Also, should i be using more than 40 grams of dextrose? Thanks

You could try using maltodextrin instead.

As for the amount-- it really depends on your goals/caloric needs/workout type/other daily caloric intake.

For a rough estimate, in terms of glycogen usage during workout-- with ~45" set time, you burn about 5g of glucose (in the form of glycogen)/2 sets.

I use Optimum 100% whey at 2 scoops, with about 1 cup of water. I have 5 sacks of dextrose so id like to figure out how to use this stuff. Thanks

You answered your own question. Use more water, split up the servings, etc. It doesn't taste all that sweet to me...but then again, I'm comparing it to my carb up drinks with 150 g of dextrose in a protein shake.

Would go with maltodextrin if the sweetness is really bothering you.
