Does anyone here just do 1 working set of an exercise and then just go home?
Would this concept work without the use of muscle enhancing substances?
I was considering trying this method for my shoulder routine due to the fact that they recieve alot of punishment on every other day.
What are your views?

I use it. I don't recommend it for beginners (or intermediates)for the entire body, but I think your idea about the shoulders is quite good and it would probably serve you well. Drugs have nothing to do with it per se, higher volume routines work better with drugs than lower volume routines.
Thank you for the response Chris.
My shoulder routine would then look like this (if i used this method)
light machine presses for warm up (however many sets it takes to feel warmed up)
1 light set of DB press (to get 'the rythm)
1 working set DB press (heavy) 8-12 reps.
1 working set side laterals. 8-12 reps.
1 working set rear laterals. 8-12 reps.
then DB shrugs for traps (3-4 sets)
Whaddaya fink?
P.s. Chris, what was your MM.com name when you posted there (if you did at all?)

Spidey, if you are going to disagree with someone, then please so in a constructive, non cursing way....

Spidey whatever you call yourself (what the heck kind of name is that?)if you think my reasoning is flawed why don't you explain what is flawed about it. You seem like an angry little person, why don't you drop the insults and respond in an intelligent manner. One more thing, I know a lot more about weight training than you advisor friend! You mistake an education for being correct about somthing. I can name quite a few very educated people throughout history who were 100% inaccurate in their thoughts about how the world works. Professors like your buddy very recently used to say that weightlifting was unhealthy and certainly would make one too "musclebound" to perform sports activities. I think they may have been a little wrong, don't you?
Totally agree with you Chris Mason. I have been training for more than 8 years, and KNOW that this kind of workout gives results. Forget about little kids.

Chicken, sorry I didn't answer you, the other post just ****ed me off. I was thinking your were going to do 1 set total. One set per exercise is also good, but I think with the delts you need not do all of those different exercises for the reason you mentioned in your post. What you are proposing is still better than what you had been doing if you had been doing each exercise with multiple sets. So, I think you should give it a go and see how it works. Don't be afraid to warmup properly before you do heavy on the first exercise, it is ok to do a few warmups.
Mods, what the hell are you letting this little ****ant say these things for? Please eliminate this idiot's posts.
I prefer lower volume over high. I never do more than 2 work sets of any particular exercise and sometimes 1.

i currently do about 7 working sets for shoulders chris:
3 sets DB press
2 sets side lateral
2 sets rear " "
I thought that just 1 set in total might not do it.

Actually, the routine you are currently using is not bad, but I think your new idea is even better. The delts do get a lot of work on other training days.
ok...sorry. I screwed up.Everyone who read that $hit I wrote, please disregard my bad attitude. I formally apologize to everyone in here. I'm sorry, don't really feel to happy about what I said.

I trust your experience and knowledge Chris, and i am perfectly willing to try a new technique out - hey, how can we 'score' if we don't 'shoot'?
I'm sure soocer watchers will get the analogy...
My shoulders are one of my weak parts and are somewhat over shadowed by my larger arms. I want the groovy 'cannonball' look.
I do shoulders on fridays, so i will start it this week.
I will tell you the pogress after 3-4 weeks. Thanks again for the help Chris.![]()

Hey CD .... I do a Dorian (as you put it.) I still do 3 sets per exercise, but I have a main set where I make it real intense by doing drop sets, Negatives rest-pause etc ....

CD I've just looked at one of your other posts. I too "had" weaker shoulders then my arms. I found triple drop set sides a real burner that gave me width and a nice cannon ball look. Try em .... there not easy but nothing will build more shape and make them grow more.
