Is there a difference in training for size and training for strength?
I was just wondering...
Stats
Age: 22 Height: 5'-8" Weight: 175 (6-10-07)
BF: 13.2% (6-10-07 w/ calipers)
Lifts
Bench: 300x1 (9-22-06)
Squat: 285x4
Deadlift: 225x10
Long-term Goals
Weight: 180 BF: 8% Bench: 315x1

In general, no.
But, you have to train differently to gain maximum amounts of strength than you do to gain maximal amounts of muscle.
If power says to search than search because I can see allready that I disagree with someone, the difference between training for mass and training for strength are amazingly different if you are at at least an intermediate level in either bodybuilding or strength sport but for the average joe the difference is minimal.

there is a huge difference in size and strength training. i train for strength, and some of my lifts are higher than heavier ppl of similar body fat %. when ppl see my squat 225x20, they generally think i weigh 150-60, b/c they don't know that i train heavy like that.

young buck, you might be feeling argumentative about this subject, but I believe dl suggested the search function because a in-depth discussion has already taken place on this subject. Matter of fact, I posted htis question a few months ago, and no..I don't recall their being an argument. y'all may want to run a search on "periodization".

Very similar tools, slightly different methods.
Most bodybuilders are very strong, and most strength athletes have big muscles.
Squats work better than supplements.

They train in two totally different ways; how can you expect them to?
The training is different for max strength and max size, but its not an incredible change. You can make good gains in size and strength on a bodybuilding or strength training routine. Do some research before you make a comment like you know what you're talking about.
Also remember that a bigger muscle is a stronger one.

if i have a bicep that is 'X' big and can curl 30lbs, if it grows to '1.5X' big then it will be stronger. whether i'd be able to curl 45lbs is debatable.

No, that's not what I'm saying. What I'm saying is that if anyone's biceps or any other muscles get bigger, they will be stronger.
If a mans arms go from 16 inches to 17 inches due to bicep growth, they will curl more.
