    Eating: before and after a workout

    Is it good to eat like 30 min before you workout?

    How does the benefit of eating within 30 min after a work out compare to eating like 1 or 2 hours after???

    i believe eating anytime before the workout is good, however, when it is only 45 min or less, eat something light that wont get you cramped up during your workout. in other words, dont eat a big steak n taters meal right before a workout. eat some fruit or a protein shake with some light carbs.

    as for after, i'll use the old school method. right after a workout your muscles are primed for soaking up nutrients, they are full of blood and waiting to absorb, so eating immediately after a workout is more beneficial to eating 1 or 2 hours after. when eating after the workout try something like gatorade, or dextrose w/ some protein powder.
