    Kazaa mp3s

Why are all of the new mp3s all scratched or messed up? More importantly, why do people share them if they know they're messed up? Is it new CD ripping protection or something?

I always wondered that and the best I could come up with is it's a ploy by large distributors to stop downloading, I mean I get pretty mad when I download songs that are all ****ed up, I guess it helps detere downloading.

Yeah, I imagine it's something to do with companies putting up bad files to discourage downloading. And if you notice it's always the same exact noise. That's what makes me think it's an organized effort. Most new songs are no good. I've noticed there's a good handfull of older songs that you can download without a problem.
Best way to cheat on deadlifts...

Stand there for a few minutes, then pace back and forth a lot, huff and puff, wait until everybody's looking. Approach the bar. Back off. Approach it again. Back off. Get some water. Chalk up. Approach the bar again. Then spray some more chalk around. Wait until people start losing interest. When nobody's looking, pick it a little off the floor, and slam it down. Jump up and yell "LIGHT WEIGHT BABY". Then give high fives all around. - Belial

Eh, right after I installed Limewire I started getting popups. Also, my comp detected a virus last night. Don't get Limewire!

Does that use the Kazaa network? If so, then why not just stick with Kazaa Lite?

Also, got my WoW beta key, yet?

I still use BearShare on my illegit harddrive. My legit HD has no sharing proggies.

On my illegit, I have Kazaa Lite K+ as a backup, but dont use it for tunes. Better for "other media" and grabbing UFC movies.

A lot of those 'damaged' music files are placed on the internet to guage public interest in a song. I know this was done for Velvet Revolver. Their record company released damaged songs to see what sort of public interest there was. They have invested millions to promote this band and download activity gives them a good idea of public anticipation/interest.

They figured out how Kazaa identifies the files. If you open up and look at the multiple sources you will see that the files are all different sizes now. The RIAA has hired companies to use high bandwidth servers to host these corrupt files. So, you may have a listing that has like 84 sources some will be good, others are the corrupt files. The thing is since you download from multiple sources chances are that part of the file you pick up is from the corrupted source. That's why a song may play well for a few seconds and then you get that dreadful noise.

The older songs are beginning to be affected as well now. I tried to download an old Teddy Pendergrass song and got that noise too.

Now, I hope someone gets to read this before the mods delete this thread.
The half-million citizens of the District of Columbia, like citizens of the fifty states, bear all of the obligations of American citizenship: they are required to obey the laws passed by Congress; they pay federal taxes; they serve in the military; and they fight and die in our wars. Yet they lack the most basic right that should accompany American citizenship—the right to full voting representation in Congress. This makes the United States the only nation in the world with a representative, democratic constitution that denies citizens of its capital representation in the national legislature. In fact, no fewer than 183 nations provide their citizens the type of representation citizens of Washington, DC are denied.

If it was just Kazaa with a different name, I wouldn't suggest it, hehe.

I heard the ****ed up mp3's are a way for the government to detect whos "stealing music." Through those mp3's they can see who has that mp3 and all their information. Now that sounds foolish to me, but I'm not sure what to believe anymore. It seems we get those mp3's quite alot too.

I refuse to buy a cd unless I can make a mp3 pre-release copy. If it sounds good, I buy it. If they scramble the song they lose a buyer. Also - If they have protection on the disc I'll say it doesn't work in my player and return it, as one is entitled to a personal backup. If I can't make MP3's from the CD it is crap and gets returned - as I don't have 80 CD drives or a cd changer to integrate into my huge few-hundred song winamp playlists

Why don't you just download Shadow Bit Torent?

It is a lot better and the files are checked, so I have never downloaded anything bad or with viruses.

Shareaza pulls from bittorrent, gnutella1, gnutella2 and edonkey...It's a better client IMO.

Not really. Takes some configuring to get it working correctly for people behind firewalls, but they have forums with lots of posts about it.

IMO eMule is a better improvement on eDonkey than Overnet. I use it for most things but it doesn't seem to be too hot for mp3s.

Does this mean it allows searching of BitTorrent? How does it achieve this? Definitely going to have to give this one a look.

It's a P2P client, basically. If you run a search for something and someone online has the torrent, it will show up in the search window. You download the torrent executable, open it, then it'll start downloading from anyone with the file, be it bittorrent user, shareaza, gnutella, or edonkey. So it'll pull from many more sources giving you faster download rates.
