    Doctor:Blood and urine tests

I went to the doctor today to get some immunizations and thanks to my mom I now have to go back on saturday to have blood and urine work done. I'm currently taking protein and creatine and was wondering if either of these things will show up in the tests, and if so whether they represent a problem or not. I know it's probably nothing to worry about but I'm just a little curious on what to expect.

My suggestion to you would be to stop taking creatine and lower your protein intake until after Saturday. My recent blood work was high for both creatinine and uric acid. Put my doc into a panic and he ordered additional blood work and ultrasounds performed. All unnecessary. I'm not even supplementing with creatine at the moment. A high protein diet alone will elevate these levels in your body. Supplementing with creatine will elevate them further. Exercise coupled with destruction and building of muscle further raises these levels. I hope your doc is up to date with athletes and creatine/high protein diets otherwise you may end up in a battle with your mom over their use.

Um, all you have to do is tell your doctor you workout and take these supplements. If he has a fit, get a new doctor.

Yeah, some doctors think creatine is evil, while others could care less.

Asking if protein shows up on a drug test is like asking if chicken will show up. It's just protein.

Just trying to save a fight with the guys Ma. You all know how mothers can be. Sometimes it is a lot easier to keep the peace.

Asking if protein shows up on a drug test is like asking if chicken will show up. It's just protein.

A diet high in protein shows up with elevated levels of blood urea as well as higher creatinine levels. Both are signs within the medical community of a potential problem, most likely with the liver or kidneys. It's not drugs they are looking for. It is things like renal faluire or liver damage.

thanks melt....that's exactly what I was wondering. I realize protein and creatine are both natural but I wasn't sure whether excess amounts showing up would cause a Dr to belive something may be wrong
