Ive played counter-strike against some people that competed in CPL tournaments. They have some pretty amazing ability, but I faired pretty well considering I don't play a video game for a living.

A buddy of mine competed in a CPL thing in Phoenix a couple years back in Team Fortress. We gave him a lot **** for it(who competes in computer games?) but he ended up coming back with 500 bucks so that was the end of that. Some of those kids are amazing and definetly should be considered athletes.

I could have been if i wanted to :P Back when the CPL was new I played VS some CS clan members in it. I didn't dominate them but I was better... it was the clan GWG they are/used to be pretty high up in the CPL.

As for "athletes" they are not.

No way do video games constitute physical exercise Except that boxing game where you throw punches, and dance revolutions

I used to be. I captained an Unreal Tournament clan for a while and we reached as high as 3 on the world online gaming league....but alas, i'm 37 now and my reflexes and time to practice have suffered...but i'm old and wise so many young grasshoppers still can't grab the stone out of my hand!

Just what do you do to those poor ducks man?

Whether something is athletic or not is just a difference of degrees. Like if someone wants to call a golfer an athlete, then what about miniature golf? Getting through those windmills takes some real skill man.

This is actually true. Boxer, Korean Terran player, arguably top 3 world still. Another Korean, [red]nada, also Terran, just signed a deal worth 550,000 USD over 3 years. The largest contract to date for any SC player or progamer period. Who is going to be the first millionaire gamer? Looks like its just a matter of time.
