Are pre-workout shakes consisting of a 2:1 carb to protein ratio sufficient for morning cardio? I.e. 40g dextrose and 20g whey? What would be good to consume post cardio?
Would the same hold true for HIIT and longer, moderate durations of cardio?
what is your height/weight?
are you cutting/bulking?

5'5". Cutting. About 170. Seemed to have hit a plateau. I'm waiting for my calipers to come to get an idea of my BF%. I'll post some measurements in a bit to give a better idea.
yep, that amount of dex is fine, if your cutting better to use maltodextrose which will give you a smaller insulen spike and a more constant supply of energy for the workout.
if you have reached a plateau with weight loss you might need to re-feed, check out the threads on refeeds and cutting.
if your still trying to get below 15% then all you gotta do is keep lowering calories and keep tight control over them each week to continue losing weight each week.
once you know what your BF is you can make a more intelleigent choice of how to go about your cutting as the closer you get to 10% the harder it is.

How soon before your workout would you take this?Originally Posted by mmmduff
A pre-workout shake containing carbs completely eliminates the entire premise behind doing morning cardio in the first place...unless of course you are just doing it in the morning because this is when it fits into your schedule.
What would one recommend for pre-cardio meal/supplement in the morning? I.E. something low-no carbs, high protein, etc.?
mmm, a protein shake would do the trick.
Maybe 25g of whey, casein, egg?
I'm with geoff, sounds good to me.
