I just read this article on askmen.com and had trouble believing that the writer preferred the leg press to the squat (because apparently you can use more weight) and didn't even mention the bench press.

what do you guys think?
He also seemed big on static contractions vs. dynamic reps.

Ahem.
'Squats are a good leg exercise if you don't have access to a leg press.'
' To maximize the musclebuilding benefit of the dead lift, it is best to limit the range of motion to the top portion of the movement, as this is the strongest range and allows you to use more weight. '
'The key to maximum growth stimulation is to use more weight and less range of motion.'
I honestly have nothing to say. The article speaks for itself. Anybody with even a cursory knowledge of mass building theory should be printing this out and wiping their ass with it.
I'd give my life savings for this to have never been written.

My Journal
Here is my two cents on Mass Building Exercises.
1. Squats
2. Deadlifts
3. Military Press
4. Barbell Curls
5. Bench Press
What am I on?
My back for the bench press.
My feet for the squat.
What are you on?
That article does'nt suprise me....it's written by Pete Sisco. He is promoting his own 'hidden agenda' of static training, partials, and the heaviest weight possible routines.
For those of you who don't know, Pete Sisco has written a line of books with his new "theories of training" and is now trying to market them.
Replace curls (useless for mass building) with pullups and/or rows, and you're close.Originally Posted by Ironman_1964

I'd choose bent over barbell row and pullups.
That sounds almost as good as this mass building routine
wrist curls
weighted neck bends
body weight calf lifts
crunches
toe raises
I have put on 10 lbs of solid muscle this way!
