    Pure strength

I've decided that I'm hopelessly weak, and want to put on as much strength as I can, I'm not too bothered about size. What is a good routine/diet for doing this?

I'm having some nice results with a routine that's similar to that of Max-OT. Here's a link to Max-OT.

I can't see sigs. Also I'm not interested in powerlifting I'm after all over strength, more like functional strength rather than the whole bench-shirts and exploding anuses scene.

You can do your current routine and simply lift heavier weight for less reps.

    OK thanks elpietro.

Ja133 yeah but only in a limited way, I don't see much back, bicep or shoulder work in powerlifting.

    Hey Superdeathflame...

In both styles (especially powerlifting), while the three big movements are squats, benches and rows....most routines will put heavy emphasis in tricep and back training (and shoulders too)...For example, if you want a big bench, increase your tricep strength and your lats (lats act as stabalizer during bench)....

When I was doing westside, after doing bench exercises, we would concentrate on heavy triceps and alot of rowing....

As for O lifting, that will give you strength all over from your calfs all the way up to your traps....even if you didn't do cleans or snatches, try doing some heavy pulls or try doing 3 sets of 8 reps overhead squats....you'll build strength pretty fast!

    Later and good luck!

There is a difference though in olympic lifting, powerlifing and simply strength training. Oly and Power lifting are heavily dependent on form and tecnique. The assistance stuff you do for strength is pretty generic though. So that's what he'd be doing anyway.

I don't have room for olympics lifts, deadlifts, squats or bench press so I can't do any routines that involve them.

Those are the top exercises right there for strength. Do you work out at home or in the gym?

At home. No gyms close enough to me house that I'd have time to get to. I have a bar and a couple of dumbells but nothing else, not even a bench.

If you have room for an olympic bar I'm sure you could squeeze in a bench somewhere.

Canadian, it's not an olympic bar, but even then a bar is narrow and fits in behind all the clutter, a bench would take up half the room.

Bignic: I can't do olympic lifts in the living room I'd break things.

Move out the lounge and tables and put in a bench and a squat rack. Simple!

You are not likely to get much stronger without doing this lifts though. These lifts will build your strength more than any others.

LOL what do you want us to tell you then. Do curls and extentions all day. Go in your front yard with the bar then.
