I realize this may be a bit of a stupid question, but I am confused as to the usefulness as fruit as a carb in bulking. I know its a simple sugar, but are fruits with low gis (Apples, Banana, Pears) ok as good sources of carbs, along with whole grains, etc...? THanks
Do a search. This has been discussed in detail before. My opinion: fruits are good for you and you should eat them regularly; just don't go overboard.

Fruit is not good "bulking" food, but it's good food in general so eat up.
I was eating a ton of fruit when I was cutting and basing a meal on it often
Now I'm doing a bulk and it seems like they are just enough to make me hungry for something heavier
