Alternatives to diuretics for shedding water

Is there anything in my diet I can add in so I can shed some water? I take extra potassium, but is that really enough I'm still rather watery. I eat about 3lbs of cottage cheese a day, so I think sodium is the culprit. Any input??

You eat 3lbs of cottage/day and you want to shed water?
    tuttut
    Anyway..
    1-2g Vit C
    large amounts of Bvits
    extra pottasium
    more protein
less carbs and especially less high GI carbs
    no aspartame
    sweating

are a few things that can help you to shed some water weight

you may also want to try a herbal diuretic as taraxatone or anything like it as well

I've tried the "Super Water Pill" from GNC and found it worked nicely. Especially if you take the 2 pills at EACH of your six meals, instead of 2 at each of a normal 3 meals like it says.

    Here's what's in it.

    Six capsules contain:
    Vitamin B-6: 24mg
    Magnesium: 8.4mg
    Dandelion leaf powder: 1500mg
Uva Ursi leaf extract (20% arbutin): 900mg
    Guarana extract (22% caffeine): 600mg
    Taurine: 115mg

It contains dandelion which contains a large amount of potassium and thus it aids in shedding water.

Uva Ursi is another diuretic herb. The leaves of uva ursi contain an antiseptic substance known as arbutin, which is a supp for the urinary system.Uva ursi contains vitamin A, iron and manganese.

Guarana is a herb that contains caffeine which has a diuretic action.

Taurine promotes the intestinal absorption of fats as cholesterol.
It has cell volumizing effects similar to creatine. It boosts cell hydration and may result in higher rate of protein synthesis and it enhances glucose and amino acid transport into the muscle cells.

It's prolly the best herbal supp for shedding water weight.

Caffeine indeed will aid in shedding water weight.
That's why it's used in all the diuretic formulas.

Bump for spideys response. So taraxatone is a natural supplement? Is it safe. I heard that diuretics can leave constipated. If thats true, screw that!

Wiz, whe do you suggest cutting water intake in relation to carb loading?

    i'll try and clarify this:

to shed water you drink shedloads and then cut intake in half the night before right?

carb loading requires drinking lots of water when munching carbs.

How do you find the balance?

    thanks man.

    No diuretic is 'safe'.

Why would anyone want or need to use a diuretic unless they are competing or otherwise need to look their absolute best for a short period of time?
    Squats work better than supplements.
"You know, if I thought like that, I'd never put more than one plate on the bar for anything, I'd never use bands or chains, I'd never squat to parallel or below, and I'd never let out the slightest grunt when I lift. At some point in your lifting career (assuming you're planning on getting reasonably strong and big), you're going to have to accept that most people think you are some kind of freak." -Sensei

    Right!

Well, you really need to drink lots of water but you can't risk increasing water retention.I always notice water retention(extramuscular) after a carb up,even when I keep my sodium intake low and take potassium.Maybe Yates can provide some better info as he has competed and may know the secrets better.

    thanks man.
