Good article. I remember having alot tell me shat like that when I was 12 and obsessed with squat lifts, bench presses(the only 2 exersizes I knew how to do), and martial arts. Lard asses going "why do you wanna look like those guys in the magazines? They lift weights all day and pump themselves full of steroids to look like that. You can't look like that." Pffft, maybe not but so? It's the thrill of trying, and seeing how good you can get. I been lazy about it the last several years and that article was the kick in the ass I needed! Thanks!

Yup... let me concur. It's good to come back here from time to time to make sure I'm inspired enough. Whenever I lift, I think of how easily I could become Bob.

Great article. It's right on the money. Half the fun of doing what we do is seeing the looks on all the faces of those who wish they could do it, or just admire that we do.
Best way to cheat on deadlifts...

Stand there for a few minutes, then pace back and forth a lot, huff and puff, wait until everybody's looking. Approach the bar. Back off. Approach it again. Back off. Get some water. Chalk up. Approach the bar again. Then spray some more chalk around. Wait until people start losing interest. When nobody's looking, pick it a little off the floor, and slam it down. Jump up and yell "LIGHT WEIGHT BABY". Then give high fives all around. - Belial

    AMEN!

Im an athelete, not a body builder and the number one irritating comment I hear is "You are so lucky to be so slim!".

I tell my friends that the hardest excercise I do every day is the one where I knock the stuffing out of the big fat, lazy, chocolate eating, tv watching, asswipe that lives deep inside of me.

I can run up 200 flights of stairs and still smile because I decided that was the person I wanted to be. Luck had nothing to do with it.

Fat people are fat because thats who they decided to be.
    6 ft tall

    1st Aug : 172lbs - Seriously cut
5th dec : 193 lbs - lost definition around waist. Slight loss of mobility in mid section.
24th feb: 211 lbs - Has anyone seen my abs? I seem to have lost them.
29th April : 200 lbs and Ive seen sightings of my abs!

I took a friend along to our gym one time and he actually thought you HAD to wear this type of clothing when working out!!! That's what scared him about joining a gym in the first place!

    He eventually joined the gym...

oh my God!! I still havent come out of the trance this article had on me. Way too much inspirational for newbies like me. Man, I am definitely gonna continue with my routine. I just dont understand one thing. Why u wanted him to see ur ass?? I mean, you could have shown him ur huge biceps, monstreous chest but why ass. Maybe ur ass doesnt have fat in it like mine does(just a little ok) and it is a perfect example of glutes.

one year into working out and i still am not happy, this kind of article gives me the motivation to go on...

great post, but lifting can fit into christmas day, but if anybody goes and hits the weights instead of taking your kid to chuckey-cheese to see the mouse and eat pizza, then, then...you suck!!

Great post the 99% seem to work with me and think that i'm the freak for being so dedicated. Drinking water whilst they have their coffee break, eating eggs whilst they scoff a Mars bar or a packet of crisps God i feel redeemed.LOL
