there is never anything wrong with getting the occasional fast food meal.

ask for their nutritional breakdown at the store, and see how many calories etc are in the sub, then figure that into your daily needs.

it is fine for a meal during a bulk i guess, but not very cost effective.

Go to the subway website for the nutritional information. Pick a sub with lean meats (turkey), load on the fresh veggies and skip the mayo and you've got a pretty healthly meal.

I agree with the way everyone is pointing here, Subway is fast food, not health food.

Healthy Subway sub whole wheat 6" bun, plain with vegetables. (Why would you pay for something that bland?) or 6' plain whole wheat bun with roast beef. (I think that's the healthiest meat cut they have. (Still pretty dry with no mayo, oil etc)

My Subway sub (usually on bulk or cheat) 12" cold cut with double meat, with cheese and extra cheese, bacon and extra bacon, little lettuce, little onion, tons of mayo, oil, lots of salt and pepper and nuked to hell. We call it a "neck bone sandwich", sure to give you a heart attack in an hour. Man that sounds good right now.

Just checked their web site and their tuna is their second highest in fat! Second only to the chicken bacon ranch. Almost double of the cold cut combo!
A lot of sodium in them all,
Roast beef and turkey are looking like the best choices.

When I go to subway I get a footlong wheat bun on turkey with mayo, lettuce, tomato, peppers. I usually grab one almost every weekend to maintain eating good while i'am out.

    subway is delicious..
    and very healthy..
lean meat like turkey/roastbeef.. with a wheat bun.. with the veggies+onions is very healthy..
the key is the condiments.. no mayo is crucial..
course IMO.. subway is overpriced.. u could easily make that and pack it!

    it!

mayo is made up of mostly good fats. I wouldn't worry about the fat in mayo unless your going over you daily needs.

When I go I get a 12" double meat ball on white with 2x meyo...

Seriously.. the initial question was fine... but if meyo or a simple sub DESTROYS your entire diet and your life... then you got bigger issues then the sub...

Just use common sense... if you plan on eating a sub that day, just re-adjust your calorie to fit around the sub... (if your that obssessed (sp?)).

I just threw down a footlong sub for lunch for the second day in a row. I eat Subway all the time, but I try to stick with the ones from the list that have under 6g of fat.

The only bad thing from a health point of view is the high sodium content, but I'm a bit of an ass in the sense that I don't really care how much sodium I eat.

I don't see anything wrong with Subway. I mean, I totally understand that their food is processed and what not, but it's much better than many other fast food places. I always go for the roasted chicken on whole wheat, no cheese, no sauces, just veggies.
"It is often said, mainly by the "no-contests", that although there is no positive evidence for the existence of God, nor is there evidence against his existence. So it is best to keep an open mind and be agnostic. At first sight that seems an unassailable position, at least in the weak sense of Pascal's wager. But on second thought it seems a cop-out, because the same could be said of Father Christmas and tooth fairies. There may be fairies at the bottom of the garden. There is no evidence for it, but you can't prove that there aren't any, so shouldn't we be agnostic with respect to fairies?"

    Richard Dawkins

"Out of all of the sects in the world, we notice an uncanny coincidence: the overwhelming majority just happen to choose the one that their parents belong to. Not the sect that has the best evidence in its favour, the best miracles, the best moral code, the best cathedral, the best stained glass, the best music: when it comes to choosing from the smorgasbord of available religions, their potential virtues seem to count for nothing, compared to the matter of heredity. This is an unmistakable fact; nobody could seriously deny it. Yet people with full knowledge of the arbitrary nature of this heredity, somehow manage to go on believing in their religion, often with such fanaticism that they are prepared to murder people who follow a different one."

Subway is awesome and now that they have toasted sandwiches there is no reason to go to Quiznos since subway is cheaper. I dont possibly see how subway can be bad for you as long as you stay with the lean cuts of meat. I always get the roasted chicken sub. Its got 22g of protein and less than 6 grams of fat per 6 inches. In addition you can load on the veggies, which unfortunately i dont eat enough of. The only bad part about subway might be the sodium intake, but as long as you stay away from the sauces and dont add salt it shouldnt be that bad. Probably the most healthy place to get fast food. Also if you wanna stay low on carbs you can make any sandwich into a salad or low carb wrap.

Just make sure you eat subway in moderation. Most of the meat they have there is preserved, "cured" stuff, so it has a lot of nitrates in it. These are not good for your bodily proteins
