    Stretch marks *pic*

Ok heres the deal..I started lifting about 10 months ago...I've gained a lot of size and strength...I'm 19 years old, 5'7 I went from 125 pounds to 165 pounds and my arms got alot bigger and the bigger my arm gets the worse the stretch marks get...its driving me crazy I love to lift but I hate these marks I dont get why I'm getting them so bad...Im only getting them on the top of my bicep and its pissing me off..I included a pic of one of my arms..its pretty nasty but how can I stop getting them is there something i can do? theres no way I can stop lifting...

I don't think there is much you can do about them. If your fair skinned they seem to show up more. The one ? would be of the wt your gaining is a lot of it fat? If so maybe you need to clean up the diet and try to gain more lean muscle wt, which will be a slower gain and the marks will thus come slower. On the other hand if you keep growing and getting bigger you will get them like everyone else.

Those aren't bad. I was expecting some huge gashes. My armpits look like I've survived a bear attack. Clearly I'm in no position to give advice on how to not get stretch marks.

Search the site for previous threads. A lot of advice about stretch marks has been posted. Personally, the hell with skin imperfections. Lift!

You'd have to bulk extremely slowly to avoid stretchmarks. I actually don't know how the elastin in flesh operates, but every time I bulk I open up old ones and create new ones. As stated, it comes with the territory.

The best you can do is rub vitamin E oil on them once a day..before bed, I guess..and just get used to it.

They'll fade over time.....but I'm not sure if you'll be stuck with them forever. I've put on weight, alot of weight actually, over exam periods and my midsection and stomach look like I was attacked with a garden fork. Try getting a tan, it'll make them far less visible.

sometimes its genetics. I gained 30-50 lbs in one summer and i didnt get any, but my muscle tended to come on better since i was playing bball a ton during the process.
I’ve heard a vitamin E solution is the best thing for making them fade.

Same here. If you've only got them on your biceps, consider yourself lucky. Not only do I have them there, but they also stretch from about 3 inches from my nipple all the way to the end of my delt, front and back, and they look like knife wounds.
If you're not lifting hard, you're taking up space.

They sell stuff for pregnant women to use on their stomaches to help get rid of stretch marks.

Just some good ol' vitamin E oil might help too.

    Palmer's Cocoa butter

Apply is twice a day for maximum results. They won't eliminate them, but they will fade them
"It is often said, mainly by the "no-contests", that although there is no positive evidence for the existence of God, nor is there evidence against his existence. So it is best to keep an open mind and be agnostic. At first sight that seems an unassailable position, at least in the weak sense of Pascal's wager. But on second thought it seems a cop-out, because the same could be said of Father Christmas and tooth fairies. There may be fairies at the bottom of the garden. There is no evidence for it, but you can't prove that there aren't any, so shouldn't we be agnostic with respect to fairies?"

    Richard Dawkins

"Out of all of the sects in the world, we notice an uncanny coincidence: the overwhelming majority just happen to choose the one that their parents belong to. Not the sect that has the best evidence in its favour, the best miracles, the best moral code, the best cathedral, the best stained glass, the best music: when it comes to choosing from the smorgasbord of available religions, their potential virtues seem to count for nothing, compared to the matter of heredity. This is an unmistakable fact; nobody could seriously deny it. Yet people with full knowledge of the arbitrary nature of this heredity, somehow manage to go on believing in their religion, often with such fanaticism that they are prepared to murder people who follow a different one."

i work at a vitamin store, we sell a good amount of strixaderm. its supposed to be an anti-aging cream which also helps remove stretchmarks. im losing some weight and my stretch marks from previous fat periods in my life are showing up more, too. i might try something like vitamin e oil, and if worse comes to worse, i might try strixaderm.

Other than doing what Manveet suggested (which I presume is some sort of mosturizer) you're S.O.L. Stretch marks are with you for life. As they age they go from the red (seen in your pics) to a lighter skin tone colour to a silvery colour. The bottom line, live it or hate it, is it comes down to genetics. If you're predisposed to stretch marks, you'll get them when the opportunity presents itself.

I think all you can do is take care of yourself to prevent them. Drink plenty of water along with good vitamins and minerals to keep your skin healthy should help. Creams with coco butter, vitamin e and k everyday where possible stretch marks could appear might help the sight of them. Once you get them there's not much you can do. They eventually fade so you can't seem em as much but I don't think they will ever go away. I have stretch marks on my biceps, pec insertion, and tri's. Ohh well, They are hard work scars.

They do fade, but do not disappear completely. Don't worry though, eventually they fade enough until you stop worrying about them as a physical thing.

when i first started bicep excercise when i started lifting i never had stretch marks. but was lifting rediculously light and for rediculously long. all i remember is when i started going heavy my biceps grew so fast i think the stretch marks may have broken the skin. i never figured out if it was a cat scratch from when i was sleeping, or just my biceps getting much bigger... whenever i move to heavier weight the marks come back, but never as bad as when i first had them.

I bought some body wash called tone (has cocoa butter), whenever i take a shower it really seems to soften my skin. i have marks in my armpits from raising my bench press weight too fast. since i started using tone i havent had any more marks.
