the time and half OT makes 26-27k closer to 35k if you put in 10 hours a week OT.

"Test all things; hold fast what is good.": 1 Thessalonians 5:21
"I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do--this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God's law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord!"

job b. you can run your buisness and also sleep in
It depends on what you mean by being on call "all the time."
What does work for the Water Dept entail? Would we have to start calling you Norton?

Started thinking about the "on call" bit. How often do you think you'll be called in? Does your new business venture involve directly interacting with clients as a large part of your job? If you get called in for the Water Dept job will that greatly interfere with the self-employed business? Will you be able to drop what you're doing immediately to go do the "on call" stuff?

My cousin works for the department. The on call is usually in the middle of the night if there are water main breaks or something and they have to go fix them.
The interaction with clients for my own business is the deciding factor. Do you think clients would mind meeting on weekends or later in the night? If I did keep my current job of 8AM - 4PM??
if i was a client, and you wanted to meet me at night, or on my weekend, i'd get another person to do whatever you're providing. what is this "business" you're doing anyways?
definately job B but what is Job A??
Syntekz, if you're going to meet clients after "normal" hours I would think you could pull that off by going to their home or place of business- kinda like a house call. You could play that up as "personalied service, in your home, at your leisure." The trick would be dealing with the times that something had to get done during the "normal" business hours. Maybe if one of your partners was in charge of conducting the client interactions at those certain times.
