    Rope Push down form.

I have been messing around with this or a while now.
From what I can tell there are two schools of thought for these.

The form I use is keeping my elbows flared out and the upper arm stationary throughout the motion concentrating on holding them straight at the bottom for a few sec.

Others say to hold elbows in front of you which results in more of a compound movement IMO.

My form actually results in extreme weight reduction as at the bottom 1/3 of the movement moves the weights via straightening the rope.
    which is correct? ("correct")

or more to the point which is used more popularly?
Out of the night that covers me,Black as the Pit from pole to pole,I thank whatever gods may be for my unconquerable soul. In The fell clutch of circumstance I have not winced nor cried aloud. Under the bludgeonings of chance my head is bloody, but unbowed. Beyond this place of wrath and tears looms but the horror of the shade And yet the menace of the years finds, and shall find, me unafraid. It matters not how strait the gate how charged with punishments the scroll,I am the master of my fate: I am the captain of my soul.

I would use the "elbows flaring out" method. However, with that said you should be keeping the "upper arm" area relatively stable.
"It is often said, mainly by the "no-contests", that although there is no positive evidence for the existence of God, nor is there evidence against his existence. So it is best to keep an open mind and be agnostic. At first sight that seems an unassailable position, at least in the weak sense of Pascal's wager. But on second thought it seems a cop-out, because the same could be said of Father Christmas and tooth fairies. There may be fairies at the bottom of the garden. There is no evidence for it, but you can't prove that there aren't any, so shouldn't we be agnostic with respect to fairies?"

"Out of all of the sects in the world, we notice an uncanny coincidence: the overwhelming majority just happen to choose the one that their parents belong to. Not the sect that has the best evidence in its favour, the best miracles, the best moral code, the best cathedral, the best stained glass, the best music: when it comes to choosing from the smorgasbord of available religions, their potential virtues seem to count for nothing, compared to the matter of heredity. This is an unmistakable fact; nobody could seriously deny it. Yet people with full knowledge of the arbitrary nature of this heredity, somehow manage to go on believing in their religion, often with such fanaticism that they are prepared to murder people who follow a different one."

Well it's not a compound movement (unless you're doing something real weird). I think either way is fine as long as you pull the rope apart at the bottom.

Everyone I see doing them is using multiple joints, (ergo ,COMPOUND)
it is an isolation exercise I know but there are supposedly two versions of "correct" form.

Elbows in front I can use 120 on a station.
Elbows at sides I use 50..BIG difference and I can feel it in the tri's..

I guess I should have made a poll as this is more along the lines of what I was asking.

Most SLapdick jerkwads lean all over it and basically do a Narrow grip bench standing up.
