    Charlie Horses and Growing pains

When I was around 14-17 years of age, I used to get pains and charlie horses all the time. My mom says they are because I was growing. I stopped working my legs during high school because of an injury. I have started up again and I keep waking up with Charlie horses and pains in my legs. They are not the usual soreness from workout. Anyone else experience this? Anyway to stop it?

The most important thing for you to do now is get flexible. Stretch during and after your exercises. Your pulling your muscles so they need to be more flexible so that does not happen. Warm-up before you do legs. Hope on the tread mill and do a 5min or so walk.

And if those don't help; you may be low on potassium and magnesium; sodium. I stayed w/ charlie horses for months; until I had a simple blood test.Turns out thye whole time I was just low on the above mentioned mineral.

TRUE, I used to get them when I was younger but since supplementing vitamin and minerals for years now I never experience them anymore.

Thanks for the advice. The charlie horses really do put a damper on my workouts. I do not supplement vitemens now, I will give that a try. I warm up before each lift now and stretch a little afterwards. Hopefully the vitemens will help.
