I want to get started in weight training asap, but I don't know where to begin.
I'm looking to tone up, not bulk up. I haven't lifted since highschool and I want to be sure I do it properly.
Any advice you can give will be appreciated.
Becky
any gym you go to will probably have people there that will be able to help you with what you want to do so just ask the trainers there or if not them make friends with some of the people working out there. and good luck!
Follow the WBB#1 routine on www.wannabebig.com
Go into the Nutrition forum and read "what a bodybuilder eats" sticky. Sign up for www.fitday.com , and record down your food. Bulking up is part of getting a good body, you can get out any fat afterwards. Aim for 1-1.5xbodyweight in protein, 25-35% in fat, and the rest from carbs. If you don't find yourself gaining weight, increase your calories by a few hundred until you do.
GOOD LUCK!!

by the way, you can't "tone". you can lower your bodyfat and expose more muscles, but you can't "tone". now that i have said that, good luck
Don't worry about bulking up as it takes quite a lot of work to do so, and even more so if you're a woman as your name indicates. Read all the stickies in this and the nutrition forums, eat 500 kcal above your maintenance caloric level to develope muscle, then switch to 500 kcal below to burn off fat. To figure your maintenance level, use the search function to find the formulas. Of course, this is an oversimplification just to give you an idea of how this game is played. If you have any ?'s feel free to use the search function(the most important tool on this site). There probably aren't any that haven't been answered at least 900,0000,000 times. If you can't find what you're looking for, then ask..good luck
