Do you guys think steriods would improve hand-eye coordination? Barry bonds claims it wouldn't. But the thing is the man is 40 years old and has been having the best years of his career. Getting older everything starts to slow down. He seemed to do the opposite. Can steriods highten your senses and just about make everything work better?

NO..... simple as that.. if taht were true than 70% if not more of people in the MLB would have the same if not better #s being that some are younger and bigger..

Steroids have nothing to do with how many home runs these guys are hitting. Yes, they are stronger, but there are a lot of mechanics to the swing of slugger that puts up 40+ home runs per year. Take Griffey Jr. for example. He's no looming monster, and he has a fairly slow swing. But it's smooth and he's able to generate enough power without trying to knock the cover off the ball. I think a guy like Giambi is still going to put balls over the wall with or without steroids. Bonds is still hitting them out because he has the greatest eye of any hitter, ever. It's like he's on auto-pilot at the plate.
Best way to cheat on deadlifts...
Stand there for a few minutes, then pace back and forth a lot, huff and puff, wait until everybody's looking. Approach the bar. Back off. Approach it again. Back off. Get some water. Chalk up. Approach the bar again. Then spray some more chalk around. Wait until people start losing interest. When nobody's looking, pick it a little off the floor, and slam it down. Jump up and yell "LIGHT WEIGHT BABY". Then give high fives all around. - Belial
regardless of steroids barry bonds is one of the greatest players ever.. 10 or so years ago he was what carlos beltran is now. his current home run chase is just his icing on the cake. whether or not he took steroids, he is a penom on the field. steroids will not make you see a ball quicker, but they make you stronger, which means you hit the ball further. steroids are nothing more than an aluminum bat in my opinion. these guys could crush the ball regardless of gear, the gear just made it go further.
It may not improve hand eye coordination but it sure does improve strength, and when you have been playing as long as he has your hand eye coordination is already there. without steroids he may have never had the strength to hit em over the wall like he does now, i think his record should be null.
why do people think its all about strength.. its bat speed and they actually did a scientific study showing his bat speed is 2x faster than the average MLB player.. if you notice how big his bat is its not huge at all like a chipper jones or mo vaughn.. yes he has great hand eye.. but his bat speed is unrivaled and IMO his record shouldnt be null..Originally Posted by sublime99

The problem is that there is never going to be a full proof testing structure for steroids. Nobody wants it. It doesn't benefit the league financially, the players don't want it-the coaches don't, the owners don't. So how is it fair to Barry Bonds to say his record is null when there are a ton of other guys who will break records in the future that are using steroids, but won't get caught. If you take away Bonds record you better be prepared to take away the accomplishments of hundreds of players in the last how many years of baseball -and professional sports in general.Originally Posted by sublime99

No, steroids will not increase hand-eye coordination. But they will increase strength and power which will contribute to more home runs. If anyone really think that power is not a factor in how far you hit a ball then they need to take a physics class. Let's take 20 female soft ball players with superb hand-eye coordiation, put them in a MLB setting and see how many balls they hit over the wall. My bet is less than the guys. The difference is going to be power. Of course Barry Bonds is going to say steroids don't contribute to hitting. He's already admitted to taking them, though supposedly "unknowingly". He's not gonna want that asterisk next to his records. The fact is, hand-eye coordination, form AND strength/power will ALL contribute to hitting home runs.

Bonds interview with the media was a joke. Frank Robinson had a killer interview a few days ago about roids in baseball.
as for Bonds. He was already a great hitter, add 50-60 lbs of roided up muscle and you get unbelievable power on top of his great hitting ability. Roids wont make a crappy player good, but they will make a great player better.
What bugs me is Bonds could have already had a 20 year career hitting 35 HRs a year anyways. he would have had records(but still no ring). IMO the roids made him crappy in the sense that he doesnt run down fly balls anymore, he wont chase foul balls. HE WAS EVEN THROWN OUT AT FIRST FROM RIGHT FIELD LAST YEAR IN A CRUCIAL GAME AT THE END OF THE SEASON.
Bonds was a great player, but to say he is the best ever is a farse. in the early 90's he was probably the best well rounded player in the game at the time. But looking back through baseball history I would never say he is the best at anything, ever.

on a side note, Bonds is a piece of sh!t for bringing race into the picture. he claims it's because he's back. 4/5 of the HR leaders are black. Aaron, Bonds, Mays, Robinson. Ruth is the only white guy. he's an anus, I would never want him on my team, fortunately he doesn't want to play for them anyways because shockingly he called the organization racist.

i will bet that if they tested him every day for steroids this year he would still hit 50 or more hrs this year. its not cause of the steroids.
And...there should not be any kind of asterick (sp?) by his name in the record books. he is deserving of all the records that he has.
well no kidding he would still have the muscle packed on. take sammy sosa as an example. he clearly got off the juice and got pretty small and his numbers went back down to a 253 avg, 35 hrs, 80 rbi's.Originally Posted by greekboy80

i forget who it was but someone laughed at me when i said i wouldnt trade my worst Red Sox player for Bonds, ironically they won the Series and Bonds went another year without even being in the playoffs. HE SUCKS.

This is why i dislike baseball so much, a bunch of juiced up overpaid crybaies imo. Shut up and play the game, the NFL is starting to become this way as well, ie. randy moss, terrell owens, keyshawn johnson, and the list goes on. Hockey is on a whole nother level of overpaid crybabies.

no i know they are related but saying strength gives you a faster batspeed bar none.. is just completely wrong.. if that were true taht would mean BB is the strongest guy in baseball, sorry hes not even close.. i mean its proof and has been proven time adn time again he has THE fastest swing in baseball thats why hes able to wait on balls like he does.. no one else comes close PERIOD..Originally Posted by Vido

Go to the forum entitled Anabolic Zone. But remember to read the FAQ there, read, use the search feature, and ask questions. Study the hell out of the subject before even attempting a cycle. Good luck. And welcome to WBB.Originally Posted by Lester2476

Bonds is a great hitter, don't get me wrong...one of the best of all-time in fact. However, you can't say that steroids haven't positively affected his performance.Originally Posted by lilmase1153
For the record, I don't see why his record should have any type of asterisk beside it either, but I'm also willing to admit that steroids did play a role.

The man was born engineered perfectly to hit a baseball, pure and simple. He then worked hard and made something of it. I do think anyone caught using steroids when it's illegal in sports should be off the team though.

no i deffinitely agree they did play a role.. but soo many or too many think hey im on roids im stronger so i can hit HRs all day.. just is not the case or else youd have pitchers clubbin 30+ HRs a year.. he is the greatest hitter of all time and top 3 all around all time best players period..Originally Posted by Vido

But there's no guarantee that Bonds would've even continued hitting 35 homers a year after age 34 or so.Originally Posted by MrWebb78

It's funny to me that he's saying he hasn't been "able to train in 3 weeks" due to his knees. (ie. he's indeed still training, but not injecting)
