Didn't hit what I wanted, but it was a good time and I fought it out enough to hit some big PR's. I got the semi-elite total(not by APF standards though). Time to gain some weight and shoot for 1600@165.
Thank you everyone for the help and support and Pete for not completely diving on top of me when I missed my last bench.
Good job to all the first-timers, bombs and all. It took balls to go out there and put it on the line and you all showed a lot of class and heart. I don't know about you, but I can't wait to get back in the gym to do some work.

Nice lifting, very impressive
That's an awesome total, great job bro!

Hell.! 1400@148 :0 Awesome strength and lifts.
Congrats![]()
Did you just not have a good day? I mean in that vid you are deadlifting 515 and you make it look EASY! In your journal, don't you note you squat like 650 in your workouts? Are these meets harder to get more weight up? Stricter guidelines? Sorry Im kinda newbish about meets and such![]()
I believe the lifts you mentioned were done at 165lbs.

Thanks everyone.
Yea, I had dieted down for this meet and was a little too light. My equipment was fitting a bit too loose and my strength was down a little bit. When someone ~150 lbs loses a few lbs it's a big difference then someone who is 315 lbs losing a few lbs. Still, these numbers all crushed my old numbers from when I competed at 148, so I had some nice PR's. I let my form break down a bit on my second deadlift, I hit the 510 pretty easy.
Chris- yea, Shawna had the big banner out and was telling everyone about the supplements. That was cool that you guys sent that stuff.

Squats work better than supplements.
"You know, if I thought like that, I'd never put more than one plate on the bar for anything, I'd never use bands or chains, I'd never squat to parallel or below, and I'd never let out the slightest grunt when I lift. "I do not understand what I do. For what I want to do I do not do, but what I hate I do. And if I do what I do not want to do, I agree that the law is good. As it is, it is no longer I myself who do it, but it is sin living in me. I know that nothing good lives in me, that is, in my sinful nature. For I have the desire to do what is good, but I cannot carry it out. For what I do is not the good I want to do; no, the evil I do not want to do--this I keep on doing. Now if I do what I do not want to do, it is no longer I who do it, but it is sin living in me that does it.
So I find this law at work: When I want to do good, evil is right there with me. For in my inner being I delight in God's law; but I see another law at work in the members of my body, waging war against the law of my mind and making me a prisoner of the law of sin at work within my members. What a wretched man I am! Who will rescue me from this body of death? Thanks be to God--through Jesus Christ our Lord!"

That's awesome, but I have a question to all lifters in general. For example, when you did the Bench Press and hit 315 for 1 rep, why did you up it 15 lbs. and go for 330 and miss twice? Why not go for 320 or 325 and hit it? I don't understand that, but it seems like everyone these days does that...and with just weightlifting in general, it just seems like everybody increments their weight by 15-30 lbs. What I don't understand is why people don't increment by smaller weight like 5 lbs. or 10 lbs. and hit the 1RM successfully that way?
Am I missing something?
