Nolvadex to help with non-gear gyno??

I just read an article a week or so back which basically said that if you had gyno, say from childhood obesity, taking nolva after the fact (years later) can have a postivie effect on it and help reduce the visual appearance. Does anyone know if this is true? Seems like a pretty inexpensive way to treat gyno.

It worked on me for gear caused gyno.

I was under the impression that once you had it, you had to cut it out. But about a week ago there was a thread on elite (yeah yeah) where 3 or 4 guys posted that high doses of nolv did help them get rid of gyno, they had for quite some time. I beleive one of them was non gear related. You may wanna check it out.

Yes it can help.

Cosmetic surgery is the only treatment guaranteed to permanently get rid of gyno. Their is a chance of reoccurrence with drug therapies like Andactim, Clomid, and Nolvadex however drug therapies are cheaper and usually covered by insurance. From the studies I've looked at nolvadex seems to be the most effective drug therapy at treating existing gyno however the chance of reoccurence is also the highest with nolvadex.

Comparison of Tamoxifen with Danazol in the Management of Idiopathic Gynecomastia ALBERT C.W. TING, M.B.B.S., F.R.C.S.,* LOUIS W.C. CHOW, M.B.B.S., F.R.C.S.,* Y.F. LEUNG,? M.B.B.S., M.R.C.PATH.?

Idiopathic gynecomastia, unilateral or bilateral, is a common physical finding in normal men. Successful treatment using tamoxifen (antiestrogen) and danazol (antiandrogen) has recently been reported. We compared the efficacy of tamoxifen and danazol in the treatment of idiopathic gynecomastia. We reviewed the clinical records of patients with idiopathic gynecomastia presenting to the Department of Surgery, University of Hong Kong, between August 1990 and September 1995. Medical treatment with either tamoxifen (20 mg/d) or danazol (400 mg/d) was offered and continued until a static response was achieved. The treatment response was compared. Sixty-eight patients with idiopathic gynecomastia were seen in the Breast Clinic. The median age was 39.5 years (range, 13--82), with a median duration of symptoms of 3 months (range, 1--90). The median size was 3 cm (range, 1--7). Twenty-three patients were treated with tamoxifen and 20 with danazol. Complete resolution of the gynecomastia was recorded in 18 patients (78.2%) treated with tamoxifen, whereas only 8 patients (40%) in the danazol group had complete resolution. Five patients, all from the tamoxifen group, developed recurrence of breast mass. In conclusion, hormonal manipulation is effective in the treatment of patients with idiopathic gynecomastia. Although the effect is more marked for tamoxifen compared with danazol, the relapse rate is higher for tamoxifen. Further prospective randomized studies would be useful in defining the role of these drugs in the management of patients with idiopathic gynecomastia.

How long would you say that is? I was thinking about running 20mg or more a day for a period of time to see if it had any effect.

Do you think the effect would be quicker with a higher dosage, e.g. 20ED for 3 months or 40ED for 1.5 months?

Progress report on this thread:

I ran the nolva for about 6 weeks at 20mg ED and saw little to no difference. I am thinking now about running 40mg ED for a period of six weeks to see if this larger dose will have any effect.

Thoughts on this issue? Anyone else have any experience with this or have an info that might be helpfull. I know that when on cycle a lot of guys here have killed the onset of gyno with high 40-60mg doses so I wonder if higher is not the way to go.

PowerMan, did you have the gyno from a cycle and if so, did you take the 40mg a day during that cycle or did you do it post cycle. How long did you run the 40mg/day for?

It's always been there, but cycling did exacerbate things a bit. And no, I used no anti-e's at the time; it really only got bad post.

I started running the nolva maybe two weeks ago, so it hasn't been all that long. But even in the short term it's made noticable changes. But that could be due to general hormonal issues; I think I normally have rather high estrogen levels.

Interesting. I think i'm going to go ahead and run the 40mg a day and see if it makes a difference for me. I'm a little discouraged after running 20mg did nothing but perhaps upping the doseage will be the ticket.

What about Letrozole as a gyno ridding compound? I've heard it to be extremely effective though-- it can be tough on libido.

Powerman, when you say, "noticable changes," are you talking about smaller boobies, or a decrease in pointiness of the chest area itself?

It never got to the point of pointiness, really...just a few tiny lumps behind the nipples.

Those lumps are what have been shrinking.

yea lets go over the different types, i have something like gyno not sure if it is "gyno" but it does look just like it imo, its not like my behind my nips are hard ball feeling, my nipps are all squishy feeling, and they are pointy now when my body is hot or i am hot,

but if i get cold my nipps shrivel up and look perfect, chris i beleive i have talked to you about this before and you say its just extra fat is that correct? i ran nolva pre 2nd cycle at 40mg eod and didnt notice ****,

i was very skinny before i started lifting and had no signes of this ive ran 2 cycles and have gained a total of 65 lbs so im sure ive gained alot of fat. hopefully this is something i can get rid of but how? nolva didnt do ****
