eating 6-7 meals throught the day will increase your metabolism... also more muscle mass, more cardio and less sitting on the couch.... the more active you are during the day the higher you're metabolic rate.....

It's really genetic, but you can do some things to help it. Working out, staying active, and adding muscle mass. Adding muscle mass it probably the best thing you can do over time. 7 months ago I was maintaining weight eating 3000 cals a day, since then I've put on 15 pounds of muscle, and have a generally more active lifestyle. Now I need 4000 cals a day to maintain, and 4500 to make any decent gains, and I was always a slow metabolism kind of guy growing up.

Do cardio first thing in the AM on an empty stomach. This will create an "after-burn" effect creating a higher metabolic rate for hours to come.

I can personally attest to this making me hungry all freaking day long.

Drinking more water may help, but beyond that...not really. None of these will have a dramatic impact on your metabolism.

Are you eating a meal every 2.5-3 hours? or are you counting a snack as "eating"? If you're eating a meal every 2.5-3 hours with snacks in between them, are you only awake for 9 hours a day?
