    The West Wing

I used to be a huge West Wing fan, but the show lost me somewhere within the past two seasons. The quality of the writing significantly decreased, and the pathos that bound together some of the best episodes all but evaporated. However, I've watched the last two episodes, and the Smitts/Alda angle is actually quite good, with Josh once again being an entertaining character. I'm really looking forward to tonight's episode, after having watched last week's episode. I'm wondering if there are any other fans, and if people think the quality of the show is improving.

Just for kicks: the episode from a few years ago "Two Cathedrals" is one of the best tv episodes I've ever seen.

Funny you should mention "Two Cathedrals" - that WAS a great episode. It actually originally aired summer of 2001, so it's nearly four years old now. It was the season 2 finale, I think.

And I, too, lost interest a couple of years ago. Right after his reelection, actually, it got pretty boring. I watched some of Season 2, 3, and 4 up until the kidnapping thing with Zoey - after that I just kinda forgot about the show. Remember that series on the show? Where Sheen steps down and fatty-John Goodman takes over temp?

I'm thinking of taking a vacation from health and society and turning to doing nothing but ordering out/drive thru's, and watching all of these shows people keep talking about. I want to be big and fat(pretty much already there) and squash my couch cushions down to nothing and leave a big ass print where I will sit all day and night. Cheeseburgers and syndicated television.

    Tryska --

I'd bet that you'd love the show, but it would be best to watch it from the beginning. The first three seasons were some of the best television I've ever seen.

I guess I've seen the repeat so many times that I had forgotten how old it was. I would honestly search Bravo! every couple of months to see if it was playing soon.

Yeah, I remember the Goodman nonsense -- that's right about the time I stopped watching it. But if you haven't watched the past few episodes, you're missing out. Honest to God: last night's episode nearly as good as any I've seen. When it's good, it's really intelligent television.

Also, Tryska, I love "Lost". But is it just me, or have the past couple of episodes been ho-hum?

you thought they were ho-hum? I thought they were pretty intense actually.

last nights was interesting. to me it seems the island needs a blood sacrifice every once in a while.

I think the problem for me has been that the island is beginning to lose its mystique; too much focus on interpersonal relationships within the island itself. What's interesting are comic book polar bears, Locke, and flashbacks, not whether Boone dies or his sister and Sayed hook up or that other stuff.

    Just one man's opinion.

yeah - but it was the way boone died - after locke had a dream. I'm wondering about that hatch tho. They've kept silent on what happened there after boone had his accident and it started glowing.
