Ya so i'm trying to do squats at home but i need weight. I don't have the money nor the room for a squat rack. I was wondering if anyone knew of an inventive way to putting alot of weight on your shoulders other than the bar.
I guess two thing i'm trying to over come. Getting enough weight on my shoulders (I'm trying to do low reps, high weight), and with that much weight I need a way to get it from the ground to my back without hurting myself. Any ideas?
strap encyclopaedias to an upside-down piano stool, so the cushion part rests on your shoulders and your hands reach over your head to hold the legs.
know your onion!
but if I don't have a squat rack how will I get the weight behind me?Originally Posted by Built

One legged squats are your best bet.

What percentage of your bodyweight should one be able to squat before they can successfully do a one-legged squat? I tried doing one just now and I thought it would be a balance issue but it was actually a strength issue and I failed at getting one rep. That link rpffly posted should help but wow, I better improve my ATF squat before I even think doing these again.
I wouldn't worry about percentages, I would practice them. There are other issues to contend with other thanstrength when learning to do these, such as flexibility and adaptation.
