My hair is pretty thin on top. I keep it shaved down pretty close to conceal it. Does anyone know how I can stop this and add thickness, so i can grow it out?
Try rogaine or some hair regrowth treatment.. I don't know if they work at all, but it may be worth a try.
Propecia is supposed to really work. It has some sides though, I think it hurts your sex drive, but not sure how badly it hurts it and i'm not sure if everyone has these side effects. Goodluck.
Invent a time machine and go back in time to when your parents started dating. Determine which side the thin hair gene came from and find another suitible parent gene carrier to replace them.Originally Posted by FighterInSnatch
You really can't do anything except for a hair transplant should you actually go bald. Take the Bruce Willis approach and outlook on masculinity and the ladies wont care...and hopfully neither will you.
From what I understand, and correct me if I'm wrong, but if you have thinning hair, you got it from your mom. To be exact, your mom's dad. Again, I could be wrong but I remember reading this somewhere a long time ago.

One of the factors that lead to baldness is testosterone (genetics being the other big factor). If this product reduces the amount of T in the male system, it may help with the balding, but it could affect men in other ways (like the reduction in sex drive).Originally Posted by Dedicated
I say, shave it. You would be surprise how many women like a man with the shaven head. On the other had, the “comb-over” doesn’t fool anyone.
On a serious note- to elaborate further on this, it is caused by T levels AND genetics together. the only way you can PREVENT baldness is by REMOVING your testicles. You can then keep all the hair remaining without worrying about fall-out. Bono of U2 had it done (he had like 7 kids already).....Originally Posted by mercury
Have you noticed that he was losing his hair for years and then all of a sudden it stopped.
Not a good option huh?
Hair loss isn't caused by Test levels, it's caused by DHT levels. An enzyme converts test to DHT, which is why they're correlated. Propecia binds to the enzyme and stops the conversion
Embrace your boldness. Be one with it.
As largelegs said, be like Bruce Willis.

^^ here's a bald smiley for ya LOL
i'm going bald too at 32 and i just don't really care. its all in the attitude, man.
The gene for baldness is carried on the X chromosome, so yes it does come from your mother. However, your mother got one X chromosome from her mother and one from her father. Therefore, the X chromosome that she has passed on to you may be from either her father or mother. So thinning hair does come from your mom's side, but just because your mother's father was bald does not necessarily mean that you are going to go bald - but it certainly doesn't help your chances - and vice versa.Originally Posted by Max-Mex

quidquid Latine dictum sit altum videtur
And the above being said, my mother's father is bald, and I mean completely bald, so, although I pray that it won't happen, I have prepared myself to lose my hair.
I like to think of it like this: throughout history, humans have slowly evolved from hairy primates to the relatively hairless people we know today. So if you follow this evolutionary progression of hairloss, bald men are just slightly more evolved than your average human being.

Thanks largelegsbuthot for expanding on what i said.
One of nature's cruel jokes is taking away the hair on top of your head, and giving you hair where you don't really want it (ears, back, etc).![]()

This **** is really getting to me. I was at school the other day and a guy i knew was just getting done with that class, he walked out and said outloud infront of everyone " Your going bald dawg!". ****ing embarassing. At the time I just smirked and blew it off, but later I wished I would of clocked him in his jaw.
So when you guys say shave it. You mean with a razor right? Wtf, Im afraid i'd look like an idiot.
Im not going bald but im toying with the idea of shaving my head with a razor for the summer and leaving the goatee. Its a badass look.

Why not just get a shorter hair cut? Your still in school so I presume the hair loss isn't bad. I wouldn't contemplate shaving anything unless you had an obvious horse-shoe going on. If your still self conscious, wear a ball cap.Originally Posted by FighterInSnatch
It looks MUCH thicker if you just have a buzz-cut. Unless you have an obvious receding hairline, and then it's up to you. Buzzing it seems to slow the fallout tough, as the hair that is thin isn't being pulled on stuff, and weighing itself down. Since I started buzzing it, I can notice no appreciable difference, although I'm pretty far gone.
The sheer ridiculousness of the Bono statement made me go search it to prove you wrong. Now, bearing in mind that google is not the end-all of end-alls, I found NOTHING--not even one unfounded rumor to substantiate what you said. Why the hell would someone with his enornous wealth do that, when there are, and have been for years, plenty of options for those who can afford them. Not to mention that it's creepy as hell to even think of having no balls, which means NO testosterone, which means no sex drive, and a host of other manly things that he would require. Would it be worth it to try to take replacement hormones, just to halt the balding effect?Originally Posted by largelegsbuthot

On a side note, Matthew McConougey (sp?) was goig bald fast, and used aproduct called "Regenix." He swears by it, and he's got his damn hair back.
I don't see what's so embarrassing about this surgery. He did not want anymore children and so he was the one to get something done and not his wife. I think it's ridiculous you think their should be some form of embarassment attached to it.Originally Posted by mrelwooddowd
I did not claim he had this procedure done to stop his receding hairline, but it did help.
The source I got it from was the CTV newsnetwork in Canada several years ago. This is not a gossip network and they had footage of him leaving the hospital and his spokesman saying he was feeling good after the proceedure.
I don't want to continue this hijack...
I don't think he had his balls cut off. I would wager he had a vasectomy, which IS NOT getting your testicles removed. It simply stops your ability to release sperm.
And I never said it would be embarassing to get your testicles removed. I said it's ridiculous, and would be quite counter-productive.
sheesh!
