    Double Workouts

I was reading a mens health back in the day and it was around the time a movie called The Punisher came out, maybe a year or two ago. Basically, the main actor was a scrawny guy and they supposedly got him very big with a routine that was not familiar to me: he'd do his workout in the morning, and then do that same one in the evening (maybe not same exercises, but same muscles). i don't remember his muscle split but what do you guys think of this? tiring out your muscles and then doing it again 12 hours later? i just don't see the great advantage in this...

I generally would use a Men's Health workout article for one good purpose. Wiping my ass.

Thomas Jane (The Punisher) wasn't all that scrawny before the movie.

This routine can possibley work if your diet is perfect, however, it's alot more like to cause you to overwork yourself, and just end up worn out on the end. Take a look in to it and see if it's right for you, but you'd probably be better off sticking to a nice 3-4 day a week routine. And your lifts are already pretty impressive for your age, they'll just go up as you keep lifting and get older.

I've done "two-a-day" routines before. Works well, but then again most training programs that are not completely idiotic work well if one rests and eats enough.
"It is often said, mainly by the "no-contests", that although there is no positive evidence for the existence of God, nor is there evidence against his existence. So it is best to keep an open mind and be agnostic. At first sight that seems an unassailable position, at least in the weak sense of Pascal's wager. But on second thought it seems a cop-out, because the same could be said of Father Christmas and tooth fairies. There may be fairies at the bottom of the garden. There is no evidence for it, but you can't prove that there aren't any, so shouldn't we be agnostic with respect to fairies?"

    Richard Dawkins

"Out of all of the sects in the world, we notice an uncanny coincidence: the overwhelming majority just happen to choose the one that their parents belong to. Not the sect that has the best evidence in its favour, the best miracles, the best moral code, the best cathedral, the best stained glass, the best music: when it comes to choosing from the smorgasbord of available religions, their potential virtues seem to count for nothing, compared to the matter of heredity. This is an unmistakable fact; nobody could seriously deny it. Yet people with full knowledge of the arbitrary nature of this heredity, somehow manage to go on believing in their religion, often with such fanaticism that they are prepared to murder people who follow a different one."

If you are an actor that has to get into shape for a movie, you are going to have enough time to workout twice a day. For the rest of us in the real world, I don't think it's realistic.

did he lift weights twice a day or did he lift weights then do explosive or endurance style movements in the evening?

Maybe the workouts weren't very intense so it wouldn't cause him to overtrain? Would that work, two workout sessions with medium intensity each and same muscle groups?

wahts the point? I bet a lot of people try this routine because they think that if they workout more they will get bigger faster, rather than having a good diet and enough rest.

Edit: I think a legs in the morning and upper in the eveneing could do some benefit.

Well may be the program was design to perform heavy in the morning and light at later in the day. This can be active recovery (if workouts are not in such high volume that can lead to overtraining). I mean you train hard in the morning. Then all day long you eat and eat and eat, then then you do light session in the evening that allow bloodflow that takes nutrients and stuff to that same muscle group. Perhaps this allows the muscles to grow faster and heal faster.

thats if you can sit on your ass and eat. So i guess, like has been posted above, this could be beneficial for an actor or a millionare.
