    Hack Squat Question

I know this question is probably beaten to death, but why do Hack Squats (machine) feel really weird on my knees? I have been doing them for about 3 to 4 weeks now. I am not doing much weight, but it just doesn't feel... Right. Like something in my tendons or something.

Anyone else agree? What should I do to counter it?

Stop doing hack squats on a machine.

You're stuck in a fixed plane of motion and your knees are being unnaturally torqued.

You can do hack squats with a barbell, or just learn to do front squats.

I see, I know how to do them with a barbell. I will just switch over to that. Thanks for the great advice!

Hack squats for me are really difficult due to the same scenario. I would rather do some other leg exercises then performing hack squats with a barbell or front squats. Front Squats seem dangerous (I've never did these before) to me, so i'm skeptical upon these. What else would you advise for leg exercises?

    - Squats
    - Leg Extensions
    - Lunges
    - Leg Press (Lateral and Unlateral)
    - Calf Raise (seated and standing)
    Past (4Jul05) | Present (22Nov05)
    Weight - 205 | 217
    BF - 26% | 22%
    Max Bench - 230| 295
    Max Dead - 240 | 275
    Max Squat - 240 | 315
    Total: [710] | [885]

    squats, lunges, deads, sldl

front squats are not dangerous. the technique is harder than back squats, but I'd reckon front squats are safer by quite a bit. and they're necessary to work the olympic lifts, which are excellent leg exercises.
