    Stupid Question

i was thinking about it.... and these work out routines I see everyone post are so completely short.... you know maybe 3 to 4 workouts???? do you big guys really only do 3-4 different lifts a day? then go home???? it seams like whenever I lift I see the really big guys there for a while???

is there something else you guys are doing there? or is it literally just the 3-4 workouts and then home?

I think you mean lifts. My workout last 25mins. My old one lasted 1hour 15mins. Why not just workout hard, get done, and go home? More time to rest your muscles.

muscles don't grow while lifting--they grow while resting and eating. the gym is for tearing them down.

Look at the Max-OT workout: www.ast-ss.com

Like people said above, muscles get bigger/stronger OUT of the gym. I could work out for two or three hours a day with five or six exercises per muscle because I love being in the gym. When I'm done w/ my designated workout, I have to leave right away--if I linger, I get the itch to "do one more set."

I used to do two parts a day, twice a week. But after trying the one part a day, I found my focus was better and my intensity higher. You can expend a lot more energy per lift, becasue you don't have to reserve any for later.

And the "really big guys" you see in there for a while...are they lifting the whole time? Maybe they are resting a lot between sets. And some people are big despite the point that they don't know how to train right.

My workouts usually take at least one hour or more even though I only do 12 sets per workout (full-body). The reason it takes that long is like BG5150 said, I'm resting a lot between sets. Also, I guess I just like to take my time...I feel more comfortable lifting that way.

See the thread about resting between sets. Most people have a 1-3 min threshold, but please read it...

my workouts vary, 3 full body days a week. one heavy, one REAL heavy, and one for active rest. the really heavy one takes over an hour from the 4 mins rest, the heavy one takes like 45 mins and has 3 mins rest, the active rest one takes a pretty short time since it just has 1 minute rest. ive also noticed no difference between doing and not doing my active rest day...

1 hour to an hour and a half, but I'm cross training with speed, explosion etc. the weights portion takes under an hour usually. I do rest alot and lift with others, so I do alot of waiting.

Yeah I'm usually in the gym from 1 hour 15 minutes to 1 hour and a half. I have a three day split so I sometimes have to lift more than one muscle group. For each muscle group I don't do too many lifts but the thing is, I usually take 3-4 minute breaks between sets and sometimes have to wait for a machine to clear up before I can use it. Bottom line is I'm not in a hurry... it's summer and I don't have school at all.
