    Heart

Is being jacked like Ronnie Coleman akin to being severely overweight since both have huge bodies relatively and small hearts. Since bodybuilders don't do much cardio, their hearts must not be big enough to take the stress of pumping blood all over their 300-400 pound bodies. So are they are high risk for heart attacks from the increased stress put on their body?
    March 19th, 2009 - 6'3" and 216lbs, currently bulking up.

i'm interested in the answer to this too

because to work out if you're obese isn't it like Height devided by Weight or something - to work out BMI?

What if you're a bodybuilder and you've got alot of muscle weight, not fat weight

Your heart, as well as your body, is very adaptable. Your heart, CNS, arteries and veins all work together as a whole to regulate blood flow and blood pressure.

Having more muscle and subsequently more blood pathways through that muscle isn't going to place any extra stress on the heart, in fact it probably will reduce stress.

And bodybuilders vs the obese are two very different things (lipid levels, blood pressure, activity levels, diet) disregarding AAS use of course.

Soul71 - BMI is pretty stupid especially for bodybuilders. Like you said, people with lots of muscle and low amounts of bodyfat would probably be counted as "obese" or "overweight."

Who says they don't do any cardio? I don't think many of them weigh over 300. 300 is a big dude.

Yeah I don't think any of them weigh 300. Probably around 250 offseason but not 300.

They die younger because while they are in the NFL they are eating like there is no tomorrow and working out and playing football. When they retire, they just eat like there is no tomorrow, without the constant, intense physical activity to counteract all the calories they are ingesting.

if you have alot of endurance such as long distance runner or rower, ur heart is very strong. i heard that even after an endurance athlete retires, he or she must continue their daily training but decrease it slowly over time. if they were to stop in one go, the muscles in the heart would basically collaspe and they could die.
    Bench: 100 Kilo 1 rep
    Deadlift: 125 Kilo 1 reps
Squat: 150 Kilo 1 rep ATF

Goal: Get more lean mass and get stronger!!

Also, doing HIIT and lifting causes you to develop an enlarged heart. This can lead to cardiovascular problems.
