    Moving To Florida ?????

Ok, I'm thinking about moving to Florida in a couple years after my house gains a bit more equity. Connecticuts winters suck, our taxes are way to high and I think Florida may be the place to go. Any one live there now? I'll be a licensed massage therapist by the time I'm ready and will be starting school for LPN so I think I'll be set for employment. Also we're self employed in construction so I would assume that would be a plus. Any feedback would be great!!

I live in Destin, FL. It's on the panhandle. We just got hit by a few hurricanes. Hurricanes are fun. Fun like voluntary amputation.

Florida is all cool but boy, their summers are awful. I'm going to Miami this week to visit friends- I've never been there in July so we'll see what that's like.

I've lived in Tampa for my entire life and I despise it. The only redeeming value to Florida is our beaches and perhaps the theme parks.

We get all the trashy people that nobody else wants.

My guess is 90 with isolated thunderstorms and 100% humidity... I didnt check the weather report but every day is the same in the summer

    I require no imagination.

Not to mention that Florida is just plain boring to look at. T-shirt shops, orange groves and a definite lack of elevation. Our tallest point in Florida is like a few hundred feet.

Dood! You live in NYC! That kind of weather happens here in the summer, just not every day of the summer all summer long. I would love to move to Miami but it's the summer+hurricanes keeping me from doing it. I don't want to feel like Dorothy... ever.

Nothing worth mentioning though. The only tornado that caused any real damage was back in 98 in Orlando, that killed around 50 people. It was truly a freak event, I don't think anything has ever compared to it. Most of our tornadoes are small F1's that only touch down briefly.

For example: people in Ohio run from stuff all the time.
Old folks run from the annual ice age...EVERYONE runs from tornadoes..and you get no warning. I evacuated all 4 times last year to go party elsewhere.

I lived in Tampa for a number of years and really liked it. My family and some really good friends still live there. For me, locality isn't as relevant as relationships that I have forged with people in any particular environment. Florida is a cool place to live. There are lot's cool people there. Plus, I like hot weather. It gives me a chance to show off the hard work I put into bettering my physical self. I'm so vain, I probably think this song is about me....
