    dumbell shrugs???

for some wierd ass reason, my left trap is bigger than my right one. Would doing dumbell shrugs with my right arm get my right trap to catch up with my left trap or is that a bad idea??

Do you mean just doing shrugs with your right arm for a while so it can catch up? I would say its a bad idea.

However, doing shrugs with dumbells (in both hands) is a good idea and it should even out the size difference. I find DB shrugs to be the most convenient as there is no bar to rub on your package. Then again, you shouldn't be too worried about evening things out at your current size, just concentrate on getting bigger.

Just because your left trap is bigger than your right trap doesn't mean you should neglect the left one. Shrug with both sides and eat a lot and it should even out a bit as you grow bigger.

Just use dumbells for both sides and only increase the weight you use when you feel both traps are of equal strength. It'll even out eventually.

LOL! Wow, the upper body of a 165er!! You need to think bigger...

Most people don't need unilateral work to bring up asymetrical bodyparts. Just keep training and they should even up on their own.

The point was that Tobart is right. At 135 (or 165 - however you want to look at it), you just need to concentrate on getting bigger in general, rather than worrying about the minutiae.

I second this. As long as you are using the same amount of weight in each hand then if you just keep working your traps regularly then they will even out.

If one is bigger than the other then the weight should be more difficult for that side and easier for the other side. The weaker side will be worked harder and more prone to strength and size gains while the other side won't be worked quite as hard and thus not grow or get stronger at a rate as fast as the other side.

And yeah at 135 I don't see your traps being very big...

Meaning, when you shrug up, you're rolling your shoulders either forward or backward, in a circular motion. This is what you should NOT do.
