for some wierd ass reason, my left trap is bigger than my right one. Would doing dumbell shrugs with my right arm get my right trap to catch up with my left trap or is that a bad idea??

It's not going to hurt to try.

Do you mean just doing shrugs with your right arm for a while so it can catch up? I would say its a bad idea.
However, doing shrugs with dumbells (in both hands) is a good idea and it should even out the size difference. I find DB shrugs to be the most convenient as there is no bar to rub on your package. Then again, you shouldn't be too worried about evening things out at your current size, just concentrate on getting bigger.
well I dont look 135 at all, its because of my legs, i just starting working them last week!!. If you just saw a picture of my upper body you would think I weighed like 165

Just because your left trap is bigger than your right trap doesn't mean you should neglect the left one. Shrug with both sides and eat a lot and it should even out a bit as you grow bigger.

Just use dumbells for both sides and only increase the weight you use when you feel both traps are of equal strength. It'll even out eventually.

i never said 165 was big

The point was that Tobart is right. At 135 (or 165 - however you want to look at it), you just need to concentrate on getting bigger in general, rather than worrying about the minutiae.
genetics?
i know last year, my right arm was larger than my left. im right handed if it matters
i wouldnt worry too much about it unless it really stands out.

I second this. As long as you are using the same amount of weight in each hand then if you just keep working your traps regularly then they will even out.Originally Posted by Shao-LiN
If one is bigger than the other then the weight should be more difficult for that side and easier for the other side. The weaker side will be worked harder and more prone to strength and size gains while the other side won't be worked quite as hard and thus not grow or get stronger at a rate as fast as the other side.
And yeah at 135 I don't see your traps being very big...

u need to eat bro....a lot.....and dont roll your shoulders when u bring it up....just pull and hold....if u roll and continue to it can cause injury later on down the road.....
^i see it all the time. i tried it after seeing few folks at my gym doing them cause i was curious... i didnt feel comfortable with them.
what do you mean roll your shoulders??

Meaning, when you shrug up, you're rolling your shoulders either forward or backward, in a circular motion. This is what you should NOT do.
